Only 7 don't tax labor
Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming.
2 only tax dividend and interest income.
New Hampshire & Tennessee.
I find this counter productive and amounting to being a slave of the state, if I want to feed my family and survive.
How can it be, those states without a state income tax, are economically better off, with rainyday funds in the coffers, than those with States that feel they need all the income they can get, to make crony deals to their buddies.
Alaska has so much extra cash on hand, they pay their citizens every year.
Welp, down here Texas way, we don't have an income tax, it's true.
But man oh man, do we pay through the nose on property and sales taxes.
Can you get the homestead tax credit in Texas??? (maybe it is called something else)
No, what we get is supposedly a "lowering" of the appraised value for certain taxing entities, like the local school district, county, and some others. In reality, it's lip service as property taxes here are astronomical.
Depends where your property is.
Travis County v. Pecos County

Like I've said before. I own Property in Travis county and in Gonzales county. I pay a 3rd what I do in property taxes in Gonzales county than I do in Travis. Yet my property in Gonzales county is valued 3x's more than my property in Austin.

Texas has homestead. You have to apply by Jan 1.
Then any increase is capped at 10%.
There's also Ag Exempt as well.

Then you better get yourself down to the county office because Texas does have homestead.
Only you're too late to file to get this year's taxes reduced.
