They can't. Securing the borders is a Fed job and the Feds have told the states "hands off, it's our job" only they don't want to do their job.

I have a fix for the crisis. . . .

All illegals who cross, and are captured, have their home countries billed for ALL expenses, to include food, housing, medical attention, clothing, personnel, AND their lawyers for their deportation hearings, as well as the costs to send them back.

Great Idea. We will put you in charge of the negotiaition with Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. Certainly they will see the justice of your case and will likely agree to a payment to the USA as well for our trouble in arranging these transactions.

It's their citizens, if we are going to spend money to support them, unless YOU want to support them, then let their respective countries support them. I would be MORE then happy to take charge of sending the bills to the countries you mentioned, and then some.

If they won't secure their borders, then I have no problems sending them the bill.

Do YOU have a better idea?

You got my proxy...go for it.

Practically however I would fund the speedup effort to minimize our costs. You appear to be in the camp that does not want to do it quickly therefore maximizing our costs. Which do you prefer?

It could be deducted from their foreign aid.

Forget negotiating. Tell the countries in question that their foreign aid will be cut if they don't keep their people home.

Sure could. All you got to do is pass a law. Simple right?
