Too many Americans think that they are God's gift to the world, that everyone would become American if given the chance.
Not so.
Cubans may be divided in their opinion of Castro, but certainly, just about all of them do NOT want to be American.
hey that's cool,I mean yes there are people who prefere to stay and be where they are at.But if they don't want to be American....then don't come here.
And haven lived in Miami most of my life till recently I have known a few Cubans and alot of them who have been here years consider themself American.
The more recent arrivals, seem less wanting to be American.
Citizenship and the USA put aside for a short moment...Is it possible the US had more individual and collective opportunty for the Cubans than Cuba had? Who sends money to whom?
On the horizion, I see the new Cuba of the future in some way as a protected territory of the US...50 years has taught a lesson about the Monroe Doctrine...and its only been the general citizenry who have suffered from the political whims of both sides.
Let me put it this way " I'm a very proud cuban/american. America gave us refuge from an oppresive comunist regime and stil does to the thousands that cross the straight of florida every year in flimsy rafts. As for the island becoming part of the states sometime in the future, No a chance.

is it just me, or is anyone else feeling that cuba will become territory of the us?? i only ask this, after hearing that fidel castro has died. i dont know, but a good friend of mine says that it is comparrable to puerto rico in terms of tourism... has anyone visited?
This thread is stupid and I can assure you that Cuba will not be a part of the United States. Frankly we don't need more problems with other countries.
Not much will change in Cuba. His brother is ready to continue. Countries with dictators usually continue with another dictator when one dies.
