The question is straightforward enough.

American citizens should not be refused entry due to a fairly hard to spread illness.

I agree with bringing the two American healthcare workers here, but that is it. We know they are infected and can be kept in tight quarantine and close watch. They deserve to receive the best care we can provide.

I just heard this, and it's my understanding that, as of now, there's just one American patient in transit to the U.S. (Atlanta, I think it is?)

What's the point? Is anyone confident that the 20% survival rate will improve in an American hospital?

Guess we'll see...

I'm not saying citizens should be told no if they're begging to return, but everything possible to encourage them to stay where they are should be done. If that means flying 100 American doctors over there to care for them at taxpayer expense, so be it. Government does have a role in preventing diseases from entering the country.

This just isn't worth the risk. Do you really think these healthcare workers weren't taking almost every precaution they could?

We have military troops there, who didn't have a choice as to whether or not to go.. Sooner or later (if it hasn't already happened) one of our service men or women will bring it back with them. From there, we have a epidemic.

God thats a horrible plan.

1 person flies in to a very safe and quarantined hospital, vs sending 100 into unsanitary conditions, with a VASTLY higher chance of getting it?

Uhmmmm no.

This virus is not as contagious as people seem to think it is.

OK why is it a problem in the countries where it is at? Because the people who get infected often refuse to go to the hospital and have their untrained and unprotected families care for them!

This is not such a issue here.

Paint it any way you like, but the potential is there and we do need to guard against it closely. I'm sorry but I am not willing to look the other way and pretend there isn't the potential for a major outbreak here. Hopefully that won't happen but there are a huge number of possibilities here.
