This is a lie. Being unarmed doesn't mean a person has no chance. That's proven in incident after incident where unarmed people survive these shootings.
I don't see it as 50/50 chance of survival for everyone. I see another idiot with a gun shooting in a building full of people. I see greater chances for more bullets to hit more people.

The difference is these bullets are going towards the bad guy instead of it the innocent people.

You are greatly mistaken on how much training officers get. Most officers fire their gun only twice a year for less than 70 rounds each session.
Most active gun owners, especially people who have a ccw practice much more than the average officer. Most shoot every week or two, firing hundreds of rounds each session because they enjoy shooting.

Your side suggests throwing a duffle bag at an active shooter, or hiding under a desk, or stabbing them with scissors, or if you're a woman being raped, peeing on the rapist, vomitting on them, telling them you're on your period, and a whole myriad of other stupid suggestions. Nah, I think I want to carry something that might actually be effective during an attack. Thanks but no thanks.
