substandard???

as you can see in 1938 the min wage was .38 (38 cents)...in todays dollars it is 6.42 (as of 17 aug 2014)

as you can see in 1950 the min wage was .75 (75 cents for those that don't understand decimals) in todays dollars it is 7.42

now if you look at median household wage
median annual household income 1970 ..... $7600
median annual household income 2013.....$51,000

big jump and progress since 1970

Candidate Obama had a good plan to bring jobs back to the U.S. and keep others from leaving. He forgot about it as President Obama though.

End tax breaks for companies that ship American jobs overseas and provide incentives for companies that keep and maintain good jobs in the United States.

Again, I could get more in depth if it wasn't a waste of time.

Since they cannot afford to live (even some with up to 4 jobs) they certainly cannot afford the necessary education/training to earn more.
Because people who earn 16.00 and hour now will get a pay cut in their effective buying power.
And most of them worked for that 16 bucks an hour, getting it a little bit at a time through developing their skill set and exhibiting good work habits to get raises.

Not an arbitrary bump in pay that they may not deseve and is really more about buying votes than anything else.

It's a waste of time as no tax break will offset the savings resulting in shipping jobs overseas: workers in Milwaukee could never survive on a $1/hr like their Chinese competitors. But keep going, it's entertaining

No. The number of minimum wage employes is to small to affect buying power for the entire society.

Sure. Because fast food industry is famous for giving people raises for "good work habits".

It's about ability to survive after 8 hours of hard work in a hot kitchen. That's all.

So Obama was a fool when he made this a part of his platform? He was just trying to pull the wool over people's eyes?

Yes. In 2014 $1,200 a month allows for substandard living only.

Ok.

Now, tell me.....where does McDonalds get the money from to pay these increased wages if everyone follows your advise and goes someplace else?

They don't, or they'll find automated ordering systems, or any number of options.

Already I can order a burger from my phone, pay for it, and all I have to do is walk in and get it. Machines can automate the food cooking process. Minimal staff to put things together.

Where there is a will there is a way.

Most likely they'll raise prices by 10 cents a month over a year and just make up the difference there. You can rest assured, if they do automate, they aren't going to lower prices
