In this country, the military is accountable to civilian leadership. And we like it that way.

Obama Rejected "Best Military Advice"
CENTCOM Chief Urged Modest Combat Contingent - September 12, 2014

As he laid out his strategy to combat the Islamic State in both Iraq and Syria, President Obama rejected the “best military advice” of his top military commander in the Middle East.

Quoting two U.S. military officials, the Washington Post reported on Wednesday that Army Gen. Lloyd Austin, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), said “that his best military advice was to send a modest contingent of American troops, principally Special Operations forces, to advise and assist Iraqi army units in fighting the militants.”

Austin’s recommendation was taken to the White House by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey. The White House rejected CENTCOM’s “advise and assist” contingent due to concerns about placing U.S. ground forces in a frontline role.

This is the 3rd article I've read in the last week that has Acting Military going on record in the Media or in Congressional Testimony about their disagreement with Team Obama decisions. I find that VERY unusual, and VERY concerning.

I do also.
Nobody likes to have their legs tied together and then told to win the race.

Grow up.

The guttersnipes over there have been behaving this way since biblical times.

If you think they're going to stop because you think they should, then feel free to go on over and convince them. I'm really fed up with American resources being wasted on that open sewer called the middle east. Let the middle east solve the middle east problem.
No it hasn't always been like this! You have a one-sided world view. I have friends from the middle east and they will tell you Iraq was not even this bad with Saddam in power. And things were even better after Saddam.

Here look at this video. Be warned of it's graphic nature. But maybe it will see if there is a soul in there:

Like I said, go on over there and convince those bad boys to stop misbehaving.

The middle east's problems are self-generated and always have been. But they sure love to point their blood stained fingers at the rest of the world.

They should stop behaving like cavemen, no doubt. But they continue to. All they have to do is stop.

Obey none of you can point out where Iraq is on the map.

You don't even have to create a terrorist. Just create a p.ssed-off populace. They'll look the other way when their neighbor's nephew (who may or may not be into something) asks - for instance - to borrow that shed in your yard to store a few crates, all discreet-like, for a week or two.

Mao said it: "The guerilla must move among the people as a fish in the sea." Indiscriminate bombing makes that easier, not harder.

Sure let me bring out a bunch of our military and forces and I'll talk to them. Maybe if we had another Theodore Roosevelt or president with Bush's foreign policy they would listen. As Teddy said "Speak softly, and carry a big stick"

I'm a proud democrat, but I'm also not heartless. I'll vote for a republican if that means we get some one with food foreign policy in office. I'm hoping for Paul Ryan.

And you are wrong if you think this debt was caused just by the first Iraq war. This debt also stems from crazy government spending and needless branches in our government. If my governor, Jerry Brown, can cut spending then the president sure can do.

Problem with democrats is they always want the most far left, almost socialist person in office. Republicans will put some one in the middle of the road in there.

Somehow, you've gotten the crazy notion that middle easterners, acting like middle easterners have for millennia, killing other middle easterners, is somehow an American problem.

It isn't.
