And this is based on what, exactly?

Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA programs are all single payer.

Only the VA being constitutional. As we are talking government employees, or retirees.

Single payer will open the can of worms that makes Medi... get pulled into the litigation, which it has never been challenged.

Being retired military or a gov't employee is not a requirement for VA.

Umm, my sister and her kid have tricare for life and neither of them have ever worked for the government.

The SSA was challenged and found to be constitutional. I would imagine that Medicare would be found constitutional on the same grounds, but I don't know if Medicare was ever directly challenged.

Huge politics, but 'Medicare for all' is actually more fair and balanced (not just seniors) and not necessarily requiring Constitutional alteration.

The primary thing wrong with Medicare is that payroll taxes did not keep pace with medical treatment cost inflation.
It can never be self-sustaining and taxes could never be raised to fully accommodate it.
It will always take new money creation over the years moving forward, assuming medical costs continue upwards. An easy assumption IMO.

Medicare is actually very good health insurance. I am on it and have had absolutely no problems with it.

That is because your brother-in-law is military.
When he divorces her, she will lose her Tri-care coverage. The kids will keep theirs until 18... Not even 26 as ACA mandates.

Medicare and Medicaid are tax bills, just like ACA. You are taxed via FICA for those programs.

I'm not yet on it. But I'm not worried.

After taking care of thousands of Medicare beneficiaries over the past 40 years, I have heard very few complaints from the patients in all that time.

i.e. It's probably too good.

And the reason it has never been challenged if it is constitutional or not.
Social Security, the same way, but as with ACA it would be constitutional under a tax loophole.
