NASA Study Finds Earth’s Ocean Abyss Has Not Warmed
"The cold waters of Earth's deep ocean have not warmed measurably since 2005, according to a new NASA study, leaving unsolved the mystery of why global warming appears to have slowed in recent years."
""The combination of satellite and direct temperature data gives us a glimpse of how much sea level rise is due to deep warming. The answer is -- not much.""

Cherrypicking for that 1 bit?
Assuming you enjoy that miniscule bit of data, you agree with the rest of the study.
I mean - it is your thread after all. Let the cherrypicking begin!

Coauthor Felix Landerer of JPL noted that during the same period warming in the top half of the ocean continued unabated, an unequivocal sign that our planet is heating up.

Cherrypicking? Look in the mirror!

In the 21st century, greenhouse gases have continued to accumulate in the atmosphere, just as they did in the 20th century, but global average surface air temperatures have stopped rising in tandem with the gases. The temperature of the top half of the world's oceans -- above the 1.24-mile mark -- is still climbing, but not fast enough to account for the stalled air temperatures.

Someone didn't read or understand what they posted. This study is not saying there is no global warming. It is saying the water below 1.24 is not warming. The study is just trying to figure out why b/c the water is warming above 1.24 miles and sea levels are still rising.

Hell's bells, I believe in global warming. The world has been warming for 12,000 years! Hell's bells, I believe in climate change. The climate ALWAYS changes, but how can one say the point of change when we suppose it happens on a dime? Climate changed at the end of the last glaciation, when global warming began. Duh!

Good for the AGW folk for trying to examining a single little part of the climate picture. Too bad the AGW people are unable to practice intellectual honesty in the argument.

What are you talking about. I clarified the study for the OP. That's not being argumentative. Are you okay?

The point of this post is not to dispute climate change (whatever that is, since the climate is ALWAYS changing) it is to dispute the notion that the CAGW folks have been advancing that the recent pause in warming was because it was being stored in the deep ocean. So it still remains a mystery:

"...according to a new NASA study, leaving unsolved the mystery of why global warming appears to have slowed in recent years."

So while this doesn't invalidate AGW, it does is raise two points:

1) The so called 97% consensus, the advanced computer models and the alarmists all missed predicting this huge development and this new study proves they STILL cannot explain it. Why should we continue to give them credibility and an audience? At what point to they become ACCOUNTABLE for their failed predictions and commit to re examining their central thesis?

2) This is just further proof that we really have a LONG way to go to understand the climate and what affects it.
It is complete FOLLY to throw all of our eggs in one basket and throw hundreds of billions of dollars at studying and preparing for a world of runaway heating when it might in fact start cooling or might do just stay somewhere in the middle.

Uh no, you falsely claimed that I did not understand the article with a straw man argument.

Default The Ocean Ate My Global Warming... or maybe not

My hypothesis has gained legs: the "missing heat" doesn't exist - it is merely an artifact of unfounded assumptions based on unfounded assumptions.

Forgive me if I responded to the wrong post. Or worse, misunderstood your own post. This whole topic of AGW drives me bonkers.
