You don't get it...You've got nothing to bargain with. You tried to take out Castro, and you lost. Cuba has proved that they can hit rock bottom and still survive. They want your friendship, but have proven that they don't need it. That weakens our position.

American producers need a new market. Cuba is that market. That's all that needs to be negotiated. Human rights will take care of itself. Or maybe not.

It's none of our business either way.
We have more influence over cuba than we do a lot of places, especially with the trouble in Russia right now. Cuba has everything to gain and nothing to lose. The amount we gain importing into a country that can already import from the rest of the world is a fart in the wind.

We had the ability to presure them into improving in some areas that would benefit the Cuban people, unfortunately obama skipped over that opportunity. Instead we get this agreement that only seems to benefit Cuban leadership. We could have positively impacted the lives of millions of people without a single boot on the ground or bullet fired.

Maybe something else happened behind closed doors that we are not privy to, I don't know. But on its face this deal is a win for Cuban leadership (castro's) and a loss for America. You can keep playing politics of you want.

Yes, pandering for votes. Must have learned that from Obama.

Rubio was born in Miami to Cuban immigrants. The anchor baby enabled his parents to become U.S. citizens, based on the laws at that time.

Ted Cruz was born in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father. Cruz has dual citizenship which he relinquished when it became obvious it would be a political liability.

This is already being hailed as a major victory by Latin America's anti-American leftist regimes. Venezuelan dictator Nicholas Maduro has announced the "victory of Fidel over the Gringo imperialists". We lost today ... and big time. Us dumb Americans will be giving Castro the money he needs to prop up his regime that before today was within a 5 years of it's downfall from within. Now we just gave them a limitless extension of life, and we are footing the bill.
Explain how the current policy was a good one or worked??

SMH...Americans lost decades ago. You just didn't know.

Like you said...Cuba has nothing to lose. You can't defeat that.

I know the Cuban economy sucks and the people are dirt poor because of sanctions imposed for 50 years by the US but could you be more specific and site at least a few examples of the "horrible human rights violations" you speak of?

Thank you

The only thing that sets Cuban cigars apart from the rest is that they were illegal. Now they will be nothing special. I can't tell the difference between a Cuban cohiba and one from honduras.
