The IRS were a bunch of pathetic losers, who you could see right thru to their lies.

Lerner the ***** lied so easily, probably people above her responsible also. If the shoe were on the other feet, you would be singing another tune, and you all damn know it. The way some of you are on this forum, you know that you would want the truth to come out, you ain't fooling no one. Somewhere there is a top brass, that knows the answers.
In a witch hunt like this pleading the fifth is the only sane thing to do. they will create a controversy over you asking for a donut in a meeting, and you will spend your lifetime defending yourself in court.

Pleading the fifth is the only sane action.

Given that Obama has routinely and repeatedly done the things for which Nixon was deemed unworthy to hold office (Obstructing a Congressional investigation, Misuse of power and violating his oath of office, Failure to comply with House subpoenas.), who would be the fourteen Democrats to put the well being of their nation before that of their party today?

Which prominent Senators would visit Obama to urge him to resign?

One simple and pivotal fact is indisputable: The IRS admitted that it unfairly targeted conservative groups.

Consider one other thing. "Watergate" is considered to be one of the biggest political scandals in our history. A president resigned over it, to avoid the embarrassment of impeachment. It was a Big Deal. And what was it? One campaign breaking into the offices of another campaign to gain knowledge of their campaign plans.

Nixon wasn't even involved in Watergate. His screw up is once he found out about it, he tried to cover it up. His crime was the cover up.

How many cover ups has Obama been involved in?

That in no way defends all the lies the country has been told by the IRS.

If the right is forced to admit there is no connection to the White House or Democrats, that it was an internal agency screw up, most of them wouldn't give a damn any more about this "scandal." They only care about it as a vehicle to smear the administration. Which is why no matter how many reports come out saying the president was not connected in any way, they will not believe it. It doesn't say what they want it to say, therefore it cannot be true.

We've already seen this in the Benghazi "scandal." Several reports have come out that have cleared the White House from any intelligence failure or cover-up and it hasn't made a bit of difference to Conservatives. They are determined to have their scandals. Truth has no place in their reasoning.

They are a lot like birthers in that way.

Ummm........................... a little bit of Lois Lerner "pleading the 5th".

The IRS scandal is far worse than Watergate. In Watergate, Nixon discovered the crime long after it occurred and tried to cover it ip. For that, he had to resign.

In the IRS scandal, Obama most likely orchestrated and was involved in the crime, as well as the cover up. If you don't believe that, you are just a blind, partisan Obamabot. Obama should be in jail for that abuse of power, as it further erodes confidence in the rule of law among citizens and suggests that the president is above the law.

Wake up.

PS- The investigation is not over.

No heads rolled and no one is sitting in the federal penn.
Fox guarding the hen house comes to mind.

Clearly either you have forgotten or never knew what occurred during the Nixon Administration. Here is a recap.

Woodward and Bernstein: 40 years after Watergate, Nixon was far worse than we thought - The Washington Post

From the recap:

On Sept. 8, 1971, Nixon ordered Ehrlichman to direct the Internal Revenue Service to investigate the tax returns of all the likely Democratic presidential candidates, as well as Kennedy. “Are we going after their tax returns?” Nixon asked. “You know what I mean? There’s a lot of gold in them thar hills.”

Has Issa's investigation discovered anything close to what we know Nixon was doing with the IRS?

The problem here is there is no one being held responsible as of yet. All roads to Lerner and since she isn't talking we're at a impasse for the moment, I think that is going to change once the emails they have been seeking for more than a year have been made available.

What is clear is 100% of groups with names like Tea Party and few others with conservative ties were targeted specifically because of the conservative name. For comparison groups with "Progressive" in their name came in about 30% and they were flagged for reasons that would have triggered it for any group regardless of political affiliation.
