The pyramid shape typically represents the distribution of wealth under "capitalism". In Europe, prior to maritime exploration and subsequent colonization, racial slavery and the like that followed, whites had to exploit other whites. Hence, the masses of whites were poor while the few at the top of the pyramid controlled all the land and wealth. The masses were essentially locked out because all the land, the primary source of wealth then, were in the hands of the few. Keep in mind also that capitalism is predicated upon what?......PRIVATE OWNERSHIP OF LAND! Thus, land was the true source of wealth.
Without new land and without new sources of labor, the masses of whites were locked into poverty. The typical European, before colonization, lived in poverty. What allowed the masses of Europeans (whites) to escape poverty and move up the pyramid were two things...NEW LANDS and NEW LABOR. The new lands allowed for new wealth and the new labor allowed for new people to fuel the growth of that wealth and occupy the base and thus free up Europeans to leave the base as new owners of either LAND, LABOR or CAPITAL...which then formed the synergy for creating the economic base of capitalism. In the new lands, the lands were taken by force and then allocated in a manner that favored those of European descent, while laws were used to keep people of color either in a state of enslavement and or disadvantage relative to whites.
The triangle distribution is "the system". The triangle must keep expanding in size, keeping its same shape, however, to keep from being a zero sum game. The masses of whites could have NEVER moved up without the expansion of of the triangle to include and absorb NEW LAND and NEW LABOR. Thus, without non-whites labor and the lands that non-whites occupied, the masses of whites would still be stuck at the bottom of the economic distribution pyramid in an all white European "Utopia".
Despite this FACT, they want black people to feel like we benefited from them more than they have benefited from us. True, we have it better than blacks in Africa today....but the Africa of today is a continent raped of its natural resources by Europeans. Blacks may occupy the land, but Europeans control and own most of the resources. In an Africa where Africans owned the resources and sold them at fair market value to the Europeans, Africa and Africans would be much more wealthy.
Essentially, given the shape of the pyramid, things can never be repaired without more (larger percentage) of whites having to occupy the base than currently and a smaller percentage of non whites to move up in the corollary. Many whites fundamentally understand this and hence is part of the reason for their resistance. They do not want to add competition for themselves and or they believe that their natural supremacy is why they occupy the upper areas of the pyramid.

If you look at the richest people in the world, the majority of them made their billions on ideas.
Land has had little to do with most new wealth that has occurred in the 50 years.
