In some states they require you to pass a safety course, or hunting safety test in order to purchase an firearm. I think California put this in place years ago, but maybe this should be required nationwide. There would be no registration just that one has passed a basic safety test. I'm a firearm owner I think most firearms should be legal, but having worked in a gun store a few folks that came in bought a firearm really had no idea how to safely handing it.
Have to pass a hunters safety course to hunt in Nj, then if you want to use a muzzle loader or rifle for yotes or groundhogs you need to pass another hunter safety course. If you want to use bow and arrow you have to apss a B&A safety course. If you want to vote you just show up and press whatever button your dem benefactor tells you to.

Clearly they don't teach the US Constitution in Canada or grammar.

Considering that violent crime and shootings in particular have been dropping for DECADES and still falling I'd say that yes it IS working out. Maybe you should try actually researching the topic before commenting. Hint reading sensational, biased, "news" stories on MSNBC and Huffington isn't research.

You can LOSE that right....I have no problem with that concept. But when government starts taking big steps that I see as fishy, well, I start to worry.

Relying on an ageing population to lessen violent crime and shootings, isn't the way most would go about it.
The same is happening in other countries as well, which means, the US still has a much higher percentage of gun deaths than other developed countries that have stricter gun laws.
It's not like the US stats are getting closer to other countries.
In Minnesota most outdoorsy kids go through gun safety classes as children. I remember being very young when my friends and I got the designation. I am not sure if its required to purchase a gun or get a hunting license or what, I inherited all of my guns or was given them as gifts, never bought one. The designation is included on my drivers licence so it must be required for something.
Every hood rat should have to take firearms safety training before buying his stolen gun off the street.
You people are mistakenly confusing rights with privileges... To drive a car is a privilege, to own a firearm is a right.
