Here's what I don't understand. Clinton was open about using the personal email account and handed over the emails. Colin Powell also used a personal email account, has not handed over the emails, and not a peep to be heard about him. Why the double standards?

You know the only thing liberals have to stand on is the lame "But, but the other guy did it too."

( I am not a fan of Hillary)

1. She did not hand over the emails until after many, many requests, and we don't know if these are all of them. (see below)
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/04/us...-requests.html

WASHINGTON — In 2012, congressional investigators asked the State Department for a wide range of documents related to the attack on the United States diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. The department eventually responded, furnishing House committees with thousands of documents.

But it turns out that that was not everything.

The State Department had not searched the email account of former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton because she had maintained a private account, which shielded it from such searches, department officials acknowledged on Tuesday.

It was only last month that the House committee appointed to investigate Benghazi was provided with about 300 of Mrs. Clinton’s emails related to the attacks. That was shortly after Mrs. Clinton turned over, at the State Department’s request, some 50,000 pages of government-related emails that she had kept on her private account.

It was one of several instances in which records requests sent to the State Department, which had no access to Mrs. Clinton’s emails, came up empty.

2. She used personal accounts exclusively.

3. The law changed after Colin Powell was in the position.

Hillary Clinton's email server traced to Internet service registered to NY home
Hillary Clinton's email server traced to Internet service registered to NY home | Fox News

It turns out her personal email account comes from a server within her NY home. This means all copies of her emails are inside her home and her home falls under Secret Service protection. This is an unheard of level of trying to hide information that is suppose to be kept on government records. As Secretary of State, some of her emails may contain highly classified information. So why isn't she under criminal investigation for this since the email is going through her private email and personal server?

You should really read the article, it disputes every one of your claims in this thread.

Hillary Clinton is yet again her own worst enemy - The Washington Post

Good article. I'm surprised even the leftist NY times did a story about it.

What rules?

The 1950 Federal Records Act was updated less than 4 months ago to address email accounts.

Her predecessor, Condoleeza Rice, reportedly did not use email to conduct government business.

Colin Powell used his personal email account.

From a practical standpoint, government email addresses are public. As such, I cannot imagine how many unsolicited emails senior administrators receive from the global public telling them how to do their job or expressing their displeasure. It must take a small army of aides to edit and manage email on behalf of all senior administrators, senators and congressmen.

I cannot imagine any using email to conduct official business.
