On a trip Europe to negotiate with an Iranian official, John Kerry took his bike out for a spin and hit a curb resulting in a broken leg.

Quote:
The accident occurred while Kerry was out cycling the day after meetings with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Geneva to try to overcome obstacles in negotiations on curbing Tehran's nuclear program.
Quote:
A senior State Department official said it appeared Kerry hit a curb and there was no vehicle involved in the accident.

It appears that this was just a freak accident and that the Secretary of State didn't take that "curbing" thing a bit too literally. On the other hand, one might speculate if Obama sent him off with some stage encouragement, "Do a great job John, break a leg!"

I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

I have a friend that hit the curb with his bike and ended up with a metal plate and screws in his arm.

I wish Mr. Kerry a speedy recovery.

  • Bad news - His days of windsurfing off his yacht while global events spin out control will have to be put on hold.
  • Good News - His absence won't make one iota difference to the USA's relations with the rest of the world. In fact it might improve things a bit.

I wonder whether we'll get 2 months of front page coverage, conspiracy theories coming out of Daily Kos, jokes, cartoons, letters to the editor, etc., as we did after Dick Cheney's hunting accident.

I am sure Mr. Armstrong has several medicinal recommendations to help with cycling injuries.

No. They will keep telling us about all the great things that Joe Biden's son never did for America.
