When I was 11 I had access to many of my father guns and ammo for them. I am here but perhaps this is more a comment on today young. When young they were locked away tho; but by 11 I had two guns of my own.

First of all it's not "parents". It was a single mother who purchased gun for protection. This is in St. Louis and there is a lot of crime there as we all know.

Furthermore It sounds as if the child was properly trained to use the gun for protection. In this case he shot the Thug, a one Lamonte Streeter. His companion who got away was later arrested for criminal activity. A fine pair.

You should be going after the "parents" of these two.

(Will be interesting to see how the tone of this changes now that the particulars are known.)

The 11 year old can defend a younger sibling from a thug breaking into his house for whatever the thug planned to do. I guess to some this is a horrible outcome, self defense.

It's pretty sad that the anti gun nuts would rather have the child hurt/raped/killed by an intruder than defend himself.

yeah, heaven forbid that an 11 year old should be able to defend his little sister from an intruder.

If it advances their push to ban and confiscate all the guns in the US (excepting, of course, those which won't be turned in by criminals) then yes, they would accept the collateral damage of those two kids being killed by an intruder.

The only thing that is sad is trying to justify leaving an 11 year old at home with a younger sibling but also with a gun. I once has had a gun as an 11 year old is really no defense.

What was it a while back, a 14 year old girl defended her home from a would be invader with a shot gun . She was a skeet shooter .
Seems the citizens do a better job at justice than the court system.

I am a bit skeptical of this story until further facts come out. An 11 year old shoots a home invader in the head? That is pretty far fetched. Even an adult would be rattled if being robbed. A head shot isn't easy in the best circumstances on a range.
