Nobody seems to know how bad this is, but the fact their website is down:

http://www.umpqua.edu/

may be a bad omen

Initial reports are coming through with anywhere from 20 people injured, and as many as 15 killed. Local sheriff's reporting as many as 25 injured and 15 dead.

Local news is saying it's an active shooter situation and at least 20 injured. Changing quick though, now I see reports of at least 10 killed and a shooter detained.

The timing of this is quite ironic as Oregon's most stringent gun laws just went into effect last month.

Oregon Firearms Safety Act (SB941)

They have live updates rolling now:

Scanner reports indicated the suspect is down. Multiple ambulances are on scene. Early reports indicate at least 15 people are dead.
Police are clearing the science building at this time.

My thoughts go out to those unfortunate ones involved.

Yes, it does. But as a society we have indicated that we're okay with these incidents, so it won't be the last. In the end it will be just one more in a long line.

My prayers go out to the victims and their families.
