I don't think the religious right was ever truly worried about the restroom ordeal. Other states and cities who have similar laws have not experienced any issues from it. That was just something they could exploit in order to turn the public against the law. They have succeeded in repealing this ordinance which protects the broader LGBT community from discrimination, which was their goal.

Why is it OK to make all or the majority of girls in that locker room or shower uncomfortable so that one transgender can be made comfortable?

Just read up on it some more.

Sounds like this really failed due to poor leadership and stubbornness on the part of Mayor Parker.

Yet it's others who will be blamed.

Unfortunate.

Houstonians hate Anise Parker so much that they elected her three times.

Are you saying that people, like me, who would prefer to use a restroom based on gender is hating the opposite sex and LGBT?

God, I can't even urinate without being labeled.

This law was designed to impose the wishes of a select minority on the majority. It was given a cheeky name (they always are) to invoke an irrational "save the people" reaction. HERO? Who doesn't want to be a HERO? It's like Soros who is the chairman of Open Society, which is a naming convention the polar opposite of his intent.

Progressive tactics are starting to backfire.

...and Obama was re-elected even though he was under water in approval. Keep in mind that when the right hates their candidate they stay home and do not vote. The left, they tend to vote (especially for the Presidency) even if they dislike their candidate. I wouldn't call it a lack of hate, but more akin to mindless solidarity, which the DNC requires just to survive.

EXP: Waters is one of the biggest buffoons in politics, yet she keeps getting re-elected.

This. The outrage over potential assault glazes over the fact that a cisgender man that rapes/assaults women is going to do it regardless of a law like this. Also a MTF transgender is much more likely to be assaulted or killed. Look at the hatred on many of these forums. This online hatred will and does translate into physical violence toward the transgender community. So, I agree, that this was just to keep the LGBT community from being protected.
