Well, as someone who had student loans, I really don't know how that could happen. The checks came out the day before tuition was due and it was automatically deducted.

Today the colleges use a card, like a debit card. After the tuition is deducted the balance becomes your "free money" for the semester.

I wasn't aware of this until my son told me about it. Some of his friends go hog wild the month after school starts because they have all this "free money".

It seems many students are taking out the max each semester whether they need it or not for tuition.
And they can also get SNAP which covers their food for a month.

P.S. It's not about you. Despite that, people have jumped to all sorts of conclusion not based in evidence. Even if some system was put in place (like in other countries) not everyone is going to qualify (just like in other countries) and you are still going to have to compete for the best spots.

A D student isn't going to get into Harvard.

Yep. You accept the "Total Award" amount and only sign up for the minium credit hours. The remainder is sent to you in the form of a check to be used for whatever.

And smart parents know how to get their kids to "independent" status so they also get SNAP and the family income is not included on the FAFSA form.

The more I think on this the more I have to think Cavuto pretty sleazy. I've not watched him in a long time but I always thought him a fair guy. What he did here was put Rhonda Rousy in the ring with a young untrained girl way out of her element and then crow about doing something special because the young girl was beat.

Cavuto is polished, experienced and comfortable behind the camera. And who does he pick to discuss this with? A young woman with little to no experience in the spotlight.

Is this really what people are applauding? This was fair?

Ah but she has a progressive upbringing and education.
She is the leader of this movement. Don't organize a national movement when you don't have all the answers !!!
Her father is right their with her in this movement.

She organized a national event. That's not exactly "little to no experience in the spotlight."
