Bureau of Labor Statistics Data

Looks like employment is up. making the OP kind of a lot of nonsense. Not only are 9K businesses a tiny fraction of the businesses in California, but during that time employment has gone UP.

Sorry OP, but this seems like a lot of cherry picked nonsense thats designed to misinform or deceive people.
This does not speak to what type of job(s) people are being hired for. Are they going from an office job to a Home Depot floor worker?

Are illegals being included in the updated inflated numbers?

If they have the means to move they aren't some small little store on the corner.

Which is how the 9,000 number is derived, ie the known divestiture events (known to the author) found by the study is 1,500 (read the report for actual number), which is then multiplied by the ratio of known to unknown events. I should have stopped reading there, but I wasted some more time reading more of the "study".

I won't deny it is expensive to do business in parts of California, but that hasn't stopped businesses from locating even in places like San Francisco, which is an extremely hot market right now.

That right there is effin' hilarious.

So, to recap: A company that makes money on relocating companies publish a study that shows relocating companies is a good idea, and admit to a fudge factor of 500%. That's some fine study-making.

usually it's the small/medium business that cannot absorb the tax burdens.
The big guys usually stay as they have money to explore options.

Apple, for example, created a lab in Austin and is expanding it for their mobile work so that shelters them from some CA taxes.

The multinationals there just don't bring back their profits.

CA will just end up with big multinationals, chains and boutiques that cater to the rich.
If they didn't want that they'd change their laws.

It's a company that deals with relocation every day - and therefore can be considered an expert on the subject.

Can we use this as yet another example that businesses don't really respond to tax breaks/increases like conservatives think they will.

Since 2000, Southern CA has lost 7 Fortune 500 businesses. One of them is moving upstate, but the other 6 are all leaving/have left CA altogether, mostly for TX.
