OK
Do you think the elderly need healthcare?
I am open to ideas! Euthanasia!

God willing I will join you in a bit more than 7 years.

Private insurance, until forced to do otherwise, insured people based on different health factors. There is no extra profit from insuring the healthy than the sick.
Medicare Advantage plans can be a better deal. Its obvious when you compare the ACA silver plans for participants age 60-64 to what the better Advantage plans offer for those 65+.

WHat??????? So when people say Medicare is pricey they have a point.
OTOH, insuring the young is lucrative.

What do you recommend? Why not let medicare insure the young, make money and then use profit that to pay for the losing side of the equation. As of now the profit from health insurance goes to the top 0.01%.

Do you mean Medicaid? That what it sounds like. Medicare is for older people. And, a lot of young people aren't that healthy anymore.

I just can't make sense of what you are saying.

I don't think there is a government plan that beats my premium of 150 a month for practically full coverage. Of course my corporation pays a lot more. I am not sure why liberals are so eager to tax the middle class for the benefit of multinational corporations such as the one I work for.

There had never been the argument that Medicare is the best health insurance available. It isn't. But it is very good insurance in itself, I have never had a problem with it since being on it.

And your corporation subsidy does, of course, pay most of your health insurance premium.

Right now you start paying Medicare insurance when you get you first job. I will be able to start collecting Medicare benefits after about 47 years of paying Medicare taxes. Despite that 47 years of tax paying if I am typical I will collect 2 to 3 times what I paid in. Now tell me how Medicare will make money if they have to pay out to someone, say an 18 year old, who has not paid one red cent?

A new 10% payroll tax should do it.
