I am afraid reality does not match your talking point. Unless Tom DeLay - former House Majority leader - doesn't count. Or Republican representatives Thomas Ewing, David Dreier, Porter Goss and John Doolittle? Tyrone Fahner, former Republican AG of Illinois?

Feast your eyes on their pleadings on his behalf:

Hastert was sentenced to 2 years of supervised release. Way too light.

Just heard the news. First CNN reported two years of Supervised Release then they came back with 15 Months in prison. Hastert said he's sorry that he mistreated some of his athletes.

He is going to prison......I hope he dies in prison.

I can only wish ill will on Tom Delay also.

In his letter asking the judge to show mercy, Delay, also a Republican, emphasized Hastert's faith.

"He is a good man that loves the Lord," Delay wrote. "He doesn't deserve what he is going through."

Ex-congressmen send letters asking for leniency for Hastert
