Never, ever believe anyone who says things like "'nuff said", or "there's nothing more to argue". They are always wrong, always, and they want not more debate because it will prove them wrong.

Roosevelt was a disaster, he New Deal was a disaster (as the Sec. Treas later railed against the huge waste of spending. Roosevelt's policies turned a minor recession into a depression, kinda like Obama and his 12.5% unemployment.

Actually there are studies and actual data that shows you are wrong. And I could take that argument up with you, but seeing how your entire response was full of insults I suspect you are not amendable to having a actual discussion.

The longest and worst depression we've had and you think that's validity?

I don't know whether that poster is talking about it but my Democrat husband is mad as a wet hen over Obama calling it "a symbol of hate." He said Obama is a pure racist. I won't tell you the other things he said. LOL Sometimes you get the feeling that black lives are the only lives they think matters. Maybe some of them should ask what they have ever done for us. We do for them and Hispanics all the time.

Politics is a funny thing. Everybody is getting up in arms over entitlements that would not be a problem if the SS reserve had not been robbed by corrupt politicians. Senior citizens own this nation by the debt our government owes us for the IOU's.

Another thing I hear older Democrats say is that you never hear how the illegals are bankrupting us. It is always the military and the people on social security. And my husband would add the amount of money we pay out to other countries and some of those countries are better off financially than our country is. That's crazy and I am glad Trump is rattling them. They need to start protecting themselves or pay us for doing it. Our soldiers should not be the only lives on the line for everybody else and we shouldn't be the only country footing the bill. Why on earth are we giving money to Iran? Because our government does stupid things.

White Southerners never voted for liberal Democrats.

The busting of the unions is what happened. It was the dream of the regressive plutocrats for decades and when they managed to do that, it was much easier to do the classic trick of divide and conquer the working class (hey, look over there guys, that poor guy is the reason you are in a world of pain, not your economic rulers).

Here is FDR in 1944, talking about his vision of a second bill of rights:

the right to health care, a good education, a decent home, a job with a living wage and security from old age, accident, sickness and unemployment. As FDR said: These rights spell security, and unless there is security at home, there cannot be lasting peace in the world.

Depression is a state of mind, not an actual term defined by economics.

The recession however, that started the Great Depression, happened 3 years and 7 months before FDR took office and didnt end until the end of the month that he first took office.

The next recession did not happen until 4 years later and the next one did not happen until FDR was dead.

The great depression, at least in the way you argued it, is completely untrue.

However, by the late 1960s, many working and middle class white voters were defecting to the Republican Party, and by the 1980s, many more were voting for conservative Republicans like Ronald Reagan and his Congressional allies. Today, a considerable majority of white voters prefer Republicans; President Obama received only 39% of the white vote in 2012, despite winning reelection.

As the saying goes: If you're not a democrat when you're young you don't have a heart. If you're not a republican when you're older you don't have a brain.

As people start acquiring wealth they often get protective of what they worked to achieve. People who are quite free about spending other people's money balk when it's their money being spent by others.
