The top question though, CIA top? State department?
I really don't think the commanders in aviano would have just wrung their hands if they had any r.o.e. It was af drone after all.
Everyone was on conference call on this Crisis. But the White House still wanted to be as far away on this as possible since Obama was running for second term.
You correct the Air Force could not do the mission without orders from Obama/Nato/South Com.
I just finished watching 13 hours for the 2nd time to see if I missed something. All the support...air, marines and drone were ready to go and not one showed up. Only the POTUS could have issued such an order.
On the wrong side of right again.
Who cares? Hillary, the war monger, ran guns. The side that didn't get the guns rightfully got upset and attacked those associated with the gun runners.
There was no stand down order. Now all foamers may proceed to continue this thread blaming Obama, or Clinton or whichever boogeyman they please for a non factual event.
Carry on.
Clinton. She is the one responsible for running guns. It's her fault. THAT is a fact.
Benghazi was far from being pacified, so why did we have CIA agents there with minimum security? especially when all coalition members closed down their embassies.
Didn't they ask for more security, and Clinton's State Department couldn't be bothered to even answer?
Aviano knew what was going on. But no commander is going to unilaterally authorize air strikes on a sovereign country without said auth or predetermined r.o.e.
I believe General Ham, whose theater of operation Libya was in, a) didn't think the F-16s from Aviano would be useful and b) wouldn't be ready for at least 20 hours.
General Ham, did have other units from Europe transferred to his Africa Command and proceed to deploy those units.

Since when has the State Department been in charge of security for CIA facilities? The CIA Annex was a CIA facility and not a State Department facility.

They won't release all the transcripts but, as I indicated earlier, it was a cluster from top to bottom. Dod, CIA, and state. Not criminal, just incompetent.
