Could anybody help me to understand why people don't realize this? If we do a survey, over 90% of Americans would support background check.

"Gee, I can't buy a gun so I must do no killing!" Said by no one in the history of mankind!

If a person is so dangerous that we don't trust them with a firearm, why do we even let that person walk outside of prison or hospital?

Instead, we spend billions on background check while the bad guys are happily running around, raping and murdering people with and without guns.

Govt agents are armed to the teeth, lawmakers have armed bodyguards and we are forced to purchase weapons that are redistributed into the hands of unknown parties in foreign lands, but the fed govt needs to check us before granting permission to purchase one for our own usage.
Yes, idiotic.

The background check makes wussie lefties feel safer, I guess. I could buy 50 guns a day on FB legally without one, if I wanted, but I went through one to get mine at a store.

I l just wrote a post in another thread about this very thing.

The only people who are prevented from getting a gun with background checks are people who are not currently criminals.

We ban non violent felons (some of which have never even been in prison) from ever buying or owning a gun, even for decades after completing their sentences and living as law abiding tax payers......why?

Yet we let violent criminals out on parole long before their sentences are completed, most of the time they come out even worse and more violent than when they went in.

You really think a background check is going to stop this type of person from doing you harm with whatever weapon he can, be it an illegally obtained gun, knife, bat or whatever?

You mean like the famous "Gun Free Zone?"

Who the hell came up with that idea?

Sure, guns should be sold without questions asked. I am sure nothing bad would come from that...

Used guns are sold every day legally with no questions asked. There is a high concentration of guns in my town, (before I retired I had a business here for many years), but gun crime is basically non-existent. One murder in the last seven years. The last armed robbery was several years ago.
