I work in a law firm in NY. We have about 65 employees. We do not have paid maternity leave. We get the Family Act disability pay. You get paid a small percentage of your salary maxing out at like 260 a week. It's peanuts really. I think I got 12 weeks because I had a csection otherwise it's 8.

I believe they have to hold your job for 12 weeks. Or a comparable position.
I am all for it! Women already get 6 weeks of unpaid and it sucks. My wife took it with our last baby. We had to save a CHUNK of our income tax refund to pay bills and rent with....she still went back after 4 weeks and wasn't ready....the US needs to catch up with the rest of the world on this.
Interesting twist, though it could create an incentive to discriminate against women in the workplace if it is not offered to men as well.

At 20 paid weeks of maternity leave, at 100 percent of the mother's wages/salary, Putin is doing some spectacular robbing of the Russian mothers relative to Obama and Trump robbing American mothers. The GDP of Russia is far smaller than that of the USA too.

In Russia, it is the law to provide 20 weeks (or more, in case of complications) of paid leave, at 100% of the mother’s salary. It is time for US citizens to start questioning the wellbeing of their own country, before labeling other world leaders “tyrants” and “dictators.” In this clip, a woman enquires with President Putin in regard to the possibility of a “mother’s salary”, for the difficult task of raising multiple children. The Mothers’ Assistance Programme has been active in Russia since 2007 and can be accessed by any family that has two or more children to raise. Either mother or father can apply, and in the case of the child being adopted, or from another marriage – the applicant parent does not need to be a Russian citizen. The Programme can be utilized toward almost any cost to do with raising children; from funding toward mortgages, rental costs, the child’s education to any level (up to the age of 23), and medical costs.
Meanwhile. it does not take a far-Right extremist to see that there is a white-race genocide taking place in Europe ; not a violent one, but simply a development that stems from cultural norms. Not only are European immigration policies unsustainable for native races to remain the majority in the future, but the added possibility of polygamy becoming legal for Muslim migrants in Europe actually ensures that future.

Almost 5 million multi-child families are utilising the Programme, with over 90% of payouts going toward housing, in which to raise children.

There is already discrimination against younger married woman who might have or do have kids. I have heard of HR people checking out their cars for toys, carseats, etc., because they are not allowed to ask.
This will never pass. Some larger corporations do have paid maternity leave already. The smaller companies end up having to have someone cover on overtime or hire a temp. Not such a family-friendly place -- our corporate world.
