Yemen, Iran, Egypt, Iran, Philippines, Nicaragua, Panama, Cuba, Vietnam, El Salvador, Honduras,
That's the short list, the US may need to declare bankruptcy.
The only good thing was that the senate finally came together in bipartisan support 97-1, and here we thought they couldn't agree on anything. I am sure some voted with conviction but this is obviously about being reelected, it would have been nice to see some show some courage and do what is right for the country instead of their campaign.

I can see the desire to slap the Saudis (they deserve to be slapped for their support of terrorism and shocking disdain for human rights) but Obama was right.
Why wouldn't we get sued for funding, supplying, and training foreign forces from Al Qaeda to the Syrian freedom fighters, for all the terrorism and collateral damage they've done?
We've opened up the gates to sue SA for doing the same thing we've done with the CIA and military since the start of the cold war.
The Senate acted decisively Wednesday to override President Barack Obama's veto of Sept. 11 legislation, setting the stage for the contentious bill to become law despite flaws that Obama and top Pentagon officials warn could put U.S. troops and interests at risk.
Five weeks before elections, lawmakers refused to oppose a measure backed by 9/11 families who say they are still seeking justice 15 years after the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people. The bill permits them to sue the government of Saudi Arabia for the kingdom's alleged backing of the 19 hijackers who carried out the plot. Saudi Arabia is staunchly opposed to the measure.
Senators voted 97-1 to override Obama's veto. The lone "no" vote was Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.
Sorry Obama, we don't care what your muslim terrorist friends think . SUE THEM
why is congress willing to open the can of worms.... from the article.."law exempting foreign governments from suits in U.S. courts — thereby subjecting the United States to similar suits around the globe''...
for example: Adam Pearlman AKA Adam Yahiye Gadahn
Quote:
American senior operative, cultural interpreter, spokesman[2] and media advisor[3] for the Islamist group al-Qaeda. Since 2004, he had appeared in a number of videos produced by al-Qaeda as "Azzam the American" ('Azzām al-Amrīki, عزام الأمريكي, sometimes transcribed as Ezzam Al-Amerikee). Gadahn, who converted to Islam from Christianity in 1995 at a California mosque, was described as "homegrown," meaning that he had converted to an ideology so firmly that he was willing to harm his country of origin
Gadahn declared his animosity towards the United States by declaring it "enemy soil" and praising the individuals responsible for the September 11 attacks.....In a 2005 video, Gadahn threatened to attack Los Angeles....he has threatened attacks in Yemen
so this guy was AMERICAN....and therefore.....WE (the USA) would / could be held liable (ie a civil/criminal law suit) from other countries.... just because he is American by birth
alq is NOT a suadi organization...they were headquartered in Afghanistan during the 9/11 attacks.... bin laden then escaped to Pakistan
btw alq, isis, boko are spread around over 28 countries to include Uzbekistan , and Turkey
Saudi Arabia (the country) had nothing to do with the attacks..... some people and 'extremists' form Saudi might have
we don't need to be suing countries...we need to be getting rid of these extremist groups
Obama vetoing that bill was one of only a few smart things he has ever done...now congress has screwed the americans taxpayer again......be ready for the suits AGAINST US
And the other sad part of this is within two years, Obama will be blamed for all the lawsuits against the US. Or Hillary will, since she will be prez then.
Right-wingers will forget ALL about how this actually happened.
And when we are sued for all the damage the American military has done?
There's a stark difference between military action and funding terrorists.
WE have agreements with all of the countries we are in, which is why Obama pulled the troops from Iraq when there was no agreement renewal.
The way this bill is written it will not open that Pandora's box.

I agree with this. The families should have been paid off by the US government for the (NSA, FBI, CIA...ETC.) utter lack of comprehension and dropping the ball pre-911. They ignored all the signals for months and years leading up to it.
Obama used the excuse that it would open up the US to suits, if we were allowed to suit. Well WTF, we already support 3/4 of the other countries out there, so cut off support to the countries who might try and suit us and just use those funds. And lets not forget the cash sent in the middle of the night to Iran.
How are they planning to get any money from Saudi Arabia?
