He is a coward. He crumbled to the insurance co's and created a disaster in the aca. he crumbled on Iran he backpedalled (the two step) on every major policy design except one (the pipeline). I still remember when he promised hope and change (not that I was interested) and delivered a man bred in the arms of islam and the crony preacher wright. without experience, without backbone he delivered the country into the hands of our enemies. (ask any military man or woman)....So keep your hope and change, swill the cooking which led to his lieutenant HC home brew server and forget about an legacy. This man turned against this country and tried to do it again with this veto. Don't even kid yourself that he knew his veto would be overturned. his act was entirely consistent with his MIC role. And the final coup? Chicago and the racial disaster which he helped along the road.

The sooner he and his wicked downtown playbook are out of DC, the better....

It will be interesting to see if some residents of Nicaragua file a lawsuit regarding our support of terror since it is quite clearly the case, Reagan and other cabinet member's admittedly supported the Contras. Fairly easy to prove their case.
It is also easy to show we helped the Mujaheddin aka Taliban in Afghanistan who murdered scores of people as soon as USSR pulled out. Among the Mujaheddin was none other than Bin Laden himself. The 9/11 victims could actually sue the United States as well as Saudi Arabia. It is also on record that we helped Saddam Hussein in the 1980s who killed hundreds of thousands of people. We also supported the anti-government guerrillas in Indonesia who tortured and killed countless people back in the day.

Congress got very irresponsible with this one. Some Senators had second thoughts immediately, and that should have alarmed the House, but it passed the House anyway. This was 100% based on feel-good & emotion, and 0% on what would be best for US as whole.

The Senators and House members who voted for this will be long gone, collecting pensions and retirement healthcare benefits before the long term ramifications play out.

The Pandora's box of a retroactive statute opens the door to an unlimited number of international lawsuits and potential settlements.

The tax payer is on the hook for the cost of defense and settlement.

it's not about that, this opens a huge can of worms, now other countries will file law suits against us for war crimes...this is awful and will have a devastating effect on us...

People don't seem to realize, a much larger picture that is going to result from this....

Democracy demands compromise- always.

For the first time in history the federal government attempted to impose caps on healthcare insurer's profits.

For profit healthcare insurers have been contracting via mergers and acquisistions for 25 years. When that happens the surviving company jacks up premiums. They have also been exiting the Individual Plan markets in droves for decades before the ACA. When this happens states have had to scramble. Some chose to subsidize the insurers. Some chose to make the insurer's licence to offer auto and property insurance dependent upon remaining in the Individual Plan Market.

Currently the Big 5 for profit healthcare insurers intend on becoming the big 3 through mergers and acquisistions. The DoJ has challenged this. The insurers chose to exercise their muscle by withdrawing from many state healthcare exchanges.

The handwriting has been on the wall as it relates to the Individual Plan market for decades. The private for profit sector does not want it. Typically when the private sector declines to insure Big Government steps in to fill the void. Insurers would not insure hospitalization risks of seniors. Insurers declined to cover flood risks.
No one was willing to insure private pensions.

No worries. Trump is on the record he intends to "replace the ACA with something wonderful that will take care of everybody and the government will pay for it".

That's not why he is critical of the bill, maybe you should read through and respond to some of the points already made in the posts above yours rather than ranting.

His own party in the Congress is worried about being re-elected. Obama is not.

This legislation is popular because it makes us feel good about getting "payback", not because it's a smart idea.

A retroactive statute has known and unknown future ramifications.

Can it be proven that a network of Saudis supported al Qaeda and link the network to 9/11 and then to the Royal Kingdom? No one knows.

I suspect there is no end to people who have been negatively impacted by US meddling/ bombs and some will welcome the opportunity to sue and settle with the US.

Yes, the lawmakers need to think about that is best for the United States as whole, not just a small group of people.
