Oh!! Bass Reeves. Yes, please.
I have to say, I have no issue with it being Harriet Tubman, though. And I'm a Trump supporter. She's better than Betsy Ross, and I'm really happy they didn't choose Rosa Parks.
Bass Reeves was a true American badazz. Who's Wyatt Earp? He was a creampuff next to Reeves. And I'm WAY good with American Indian icons on our money. Real men, like Red Cloud, Chief Joseph, Black Kettle, Rain in the Face, Sitting Bull, and all manner of others equally as qualified to be revered.
The US fought a WAR, a full blown WAR, to take land from the Indians. A war in which white generals used descriptions like "The finest light cavalry ever seen", The most tenacious and fervent adversary, "Such an utter WAS'TE of fine warriors" ...etc. This coming from the most esteemed of US military leaders.
Another quote comes to mind in light of that..."The true measure of a Man is the quality of his enemies". Take that as you will. It's true.
If Jackson is to be removed we should replace him with another President, preferably one from the 20th century like teddy Roosevelt, FDR, or possibly Eisenhower or Reagan. Putting politically correct figures on our currency is pathetic, those on our money represent those who have done great important work for our nation. The idea that we put lesser figures on currency to placate special interest groups is a joke.
If we don't want people on the money we could choose other symbols of our country to place on the currency. Other nations do that so I could see us using that model as well.
Harriet Tubman isn't a lesser figure. She is an American hero. Just like Ben Franklin.
Yes, top priority. They can get garbage like this passed but they can't pass useful bills like eliminating the lincoln cent and dollar bill, making people round to the nearest nickel or even quarter while using dollar coins.
Enough trying to get crunched up dollar bills into vending machines and getting pennies back for change that end up on the ground. I'd love if they rounded to the nickel, dime, or quarter on everything.
If they got away with using pennies back 100 years ago when a loaf of bread was a nickel, I think we can handle rounding to the quarter now. Never gonna happen but I can dream.. my dream would be quarters, dollar, and 5 dollar coins... 20, 50, and 100 dollar bills, and that's it. The politicians want a cashless society though.
if I had a dollar for every penny I saw on the ground I would be rich, its almost completely useless.
Harriet Tubman isn't a lesser figure. She is an American hero. Just like Ben Franklin.
How did she shape the country to what it is today?
Ben Franklin was an accomplished diplomat who helped in shaping the founding of the US. Harriet Tubman is more on par with some military officer who played some key part in some battle somewhere. Honorable yes, but a key founder of the country? No.
I could care less who's picture is on our money, what a non issue. They could put big bird on the money and I wouldn't give a damn as long as it buys me the same amount of gas.
