This is a pretty compelling article that talks about the divide in access to healthcare that exists in Arkansas and Texas. It makes me wonder where our country heads, if Congress is actually going to "repeal Obamacare."

The saddest part about this story--and the whole thing is truly sad--is that the woman being profiled, who was denied any kind of medical coverage because she lives in red, red, red Texas, voted for Trump. And now her ignorance will be justly rewarded.

We will go to the republican's plan:

Don't get sick, just don't get sick...

But if you do happen to get sick, die quickly

The Repub proposals I've seen would replace the Individual Mandate with a continuous mandate. If you let your insurance lapse (don't maintain it continuously) you're out of the system, but you don't get fined. But getting back into the system is VERY expensive.

I like this video about possible republican options. It includes CM about 1:20 into the vid.

In theory, a CM sounds fine. My experience is that it's a "great" way to get tricked into losing insurance. Happened to me when I left the corporate world, my COBRA was ending, and I applied for private insurance. The insurance companies had all sorts of ways to delay my application so that I lost continuous coverage.

Took me four years to get back creditable coverage.
