First paragraph is another strawman argument. No one (at least me) is asking for everything from the government. Hell, housing is one area where I think there should be almost no government involved.
And second, education and healthcare give great returns on investment for society, because healthy educated people are more productive than sick dumb people
No healthcare does not give great returns in investment. Currently we spend the most money on healthcare then any country in the world, and we have worse outcomes. We have a reactionary healthcare system that needs to change. We are throwing money at healthcare and it isn't helping.
You know, you and I may not have enough, but truly there us enough money as long as there are jobs to extract the tax needed. And if you fired the congress of fooling around with people's money and fattening their friends pockets. There is more than enough,,, just mismanaged
the problem comes when you start giving money to a body like congress, regardless of who is running the show, and they start thinking, you know if we could spend just a bit more, we could make more people happy, or we could get more things done, and since we have a constant stream of income, we can kick the incurred debt down the road and pay it off later.
then they think. hey we can sell bonds to the people, that way we dont have to raise taxes right now, and we then have more money to spend. and the cycle continues and gets worse, until we get to where we are now, heavily in debt, and wondering when the collapse is going to happen.
i dont have a problem with creating a safety net for those that absolutely need it, those who are disabled, or too elderly to work, but now apparently we have a huge number of disabled people, who really are just unemployed but might have an issue like diabetes that they can claim as a disability and get "free money".
as for firing everyone in congress, and starting over, you still run into the same issues of these people thinking they have power and then being corrupted by the system they created.
This is a serious question. Considering conservatives are against minimum wage, against redistribution of wealth, against the commons (i.e. publicly funded things like police, schools, fire, etc), against unions, against healthcare. Really, what are they 'for'? And don't use the old personal responsibility line, because that isn't the question.
More importantly, why are so many liberals against choice?
Why do democrats think everything in the world is free? Redistribution of wealth hurts the middle class WAAAAY more than the upper 1%, by the way. That's one reason Obamacare is such a disaster/failure.

I'll bite!
Americans do not like Socialism and we like our money!
Paying a fair wage to what the job pays!
Unions have out bid themselves for years.
We support our schools and school choice

No, the PPACA is only viewed as a failure because it was still forced to rely on the private market, and not everyone paid in, quite a few paid the penalty instead of getting insurance. A real nationalized system works much better than the PPACA
