Let the 21st century prohibition begin. I'm sure organized crime cant wait.
Honestly I wouldn't be to concerned about it. Here is my prediction... Trump and the Republicans will reach across the aisle for a compromise on something they want. Democrats and Republicans in moderate districts will support it and politicians in the few areas where this could harm them will oppose it.
This seems like a giant waste of time and resources.
I don't smoke pot, and I don't advocate that people do - but this is such a non-issue. Let's freaking legalize it and be done with it. It's no more destructive than cigarettes or alcohol (if anything, those both could be argued as being worse).
Legalization will also help get rid of the terrible drug cartels in Mexico (although they'll still exist to supply other drugs), and free up our federal resources to tackle more important issues.
The only authority the federal government has over POT, is the ability to Tax it. Like alcohol, there is no other authorization for them to have a say. Refer to the 10th Amendment on it.
If the government could tax the air we breathe, they would.
What planet do you live on? Have you ever tried depriving a pot head of his/her pot? They'll do almost anything for it and I'm not talking for medical reasons. They're just as addicted as any tobacco user.
Oh stop, nobody ever jacked a 7-11 to get money to buy pot.
Like I said. This is war. This admin will have legal battles for everything it attempts to do and every fascist move it makes. Attorneys will boom over the next four years.
Every breathe they take, every move they make, we'll be watching them.
Th courts is the proper place to address this, I wish them luck but I have to wonder how they will win such a battle. If the federal government can't govern weed that leaves open the door they can't govern any drug.

That's not true, they could just move weed up to Schedule IV or Schedule V from it's current ridiculous Schedule I
Non enforcement of the law is by default changing the law.
No, it isn't.
As I noted, every single agency head, at the federal, state, and local levels, routinely does this. Because no agency head has enough dollars to fully implement every single law that is under their purview.
If you don't believe me, just pick a local agency and have an in-depth conversation with its head about her/his budget, and how s/he allocates the available money. Now you'll probably have to be subtle about it, because most of them will be cautious about saying it bluntly to someone they don't know. But I can assure you that it is the case.
(Yes, I've listened to quite a few agency heads discussing their budgets with legislators.)
