I don't mean to put words in that poster's mouth, but I think what she meant was Following lawful order, and be ready to give your life to your country.

I've been told they fought for the men standing next to them. There is no politics on battlefield.

I don't believe a single soldier signs up with the expectation that they will be asked to do something wrong and that they should just go through with it even though it's wrong.

Well, follow lawful order, if they do that, then they are honorable soldiers. In my book.

I don't disagree with your second paragraph.

Overall, I have no ideas why you quoted me. and I don't mean to disrespect you, I genuinely have no ideas what your point is.
My point with the Confederate sympathizers of the South of this very day is they argue this: that the North caused an needless war, because they claim, slavery would have soon ended in the USA without war. They also add the same line that critics of Trump are using: No number of American deaths, precious American lives, were worth that war led by a tyrant President in the North.

So, I'm suggesting if grief over the loss of a son killed in war were the only motivating issue, then it would be reasonable to think that after over a hundred years has past since the Civil War that the South would not still hold the same views and charges against Lincoln that the Democrats today hold against Trump over Yemen.

So, I'm suggesting this father is not merely motivated by the loss of a son. But his socio-political views are involved too.

The government did have to resort to mercenaries in their efforts to run guns to the terrorists out of Benghazi so maybe there is some credit that needs gave there in the administrations unwillingness to order soldiers to do this.

I feel really bad for the soldiers and the families of soldiers that go through the losses because of our unjustifiable actions but I can't feel bad for those who lost their lives in Benghazi. I can't prove they knew what was going on but damn, you better know when you are doing something so stupid.

Could be. That is why I suggested "giving him some time". This is a grieving father, I'd let him talk without judging him too harshly. But that is just me.
