There's only so many technical and industrial jobs to go around. Soft skill jobs do exist, you know, the ones you call with "basket weaving" degrees like marketing and consulting
Democrats just want people to make a decent wage they can live on. But the reality is, automation is taking over human's jobs. We have self serve gas stations, self serve checkouts at grocery and drugstores. It used to be you could get a human on the phone when calling your insurance company, doctor or anyone else. Now we have to go through phone commands. How many of us have screamed and cursed at these robots who say "I'm sorry, I didn't understand you". I'm an easy going person but I can only take so much lol We are slowly being pushed out of jobs.

The reason they have become career jobs is because the "capitalists" have sent the better paying jobs to lower wage countries.
Imagine the well paying and in demand jobs to fix these robots when they go bonkers!
We don't eat fast food, too unhealthy but hearing it will be more sanitary is a good idea. I know here, they were having an issue with transmitting Hep A!
The saddest part is that many kids were able to pick up those jobs part-time in high school or college.
Wendy's will start implementing self-ordering Kiosk's at a 1,000 locations this year. Most locations would get 3 kiosks, which would cost $15,000 to set up and would quickly pay for themselves as less employee hours would be needed. They plan on still having the option of ordering with a human while customers acclimatize to it.
Wendy's doesn't have immediate plans, but they are looking at robots that can make a hamburger as well - and make it quicker, sanitary, and perhaps even cheaper now than a human can.
$15,000 vs $15 per hour, plus costs of hiring, means less than 900 employee hours must be saved to justify these. 900 employee hours represents the cost of 3 kiosks, which means each kiosk has a value of about 300 employee hours. As they work full time, we can assume they work double shifts without overtime. 300 employee hours / 16 employee hours saved per day, means it will take about 18.75 employee days before these pay for themselves. Assuming customers use them. These easily pay for themselves in under a month and continue to provide savings long term. Next up, cooking.
The minimum wage has cost more jobs in this country than anything else.
