So that social order exists. You think people will willingly starve to death without a fight?

History is the best prediction of the future.

Americans have never had "social safety net" until FDR came along. Did people back then just starve to death?

What this country should really focus on is more emphasis on training people for new job skills that make them more marketable in our rapidly changing work environment. I suppose that a century ago the folks that made horse drawn wagons and buggy whips had to make the same transition.
So that would mean there's many less jobs for illegals.

Wendy's will start implementing self-ordering Kiosk's at a 1,000 locations this year. Most locations would get 3 kiosks, which would cost $15,000 to set up and would quickly pay for themselves as less employee hours would be needed. They plan on still having the option of ordering with a human while customers acclimatize to it.

Wendy's doesn't have immediate plans, but they are looking at robots that can make a hamburger as well - and make it quicker, sanitary, and perhaps even cheaper now than a human can.

I fully understand this but the price's for me better go down.If they want me to help them and still be a patron at there restaurant than I better get a discount for helping them put someone out of a job.

Yeah and FDR was a progressive, you know why he enacted social safety nets? In response to the Great Depression. People were starving and dying. Most people had to beg for food to survive, live in a cardbox in the streets during the Great Depression. The state of Wisconsin became the first state to enact unemployment benefits in response in 1932. Then became a national thing as other states followed.

It was through that experience is why social safety nets exists. To say otherwise = ignorant of history.

Meh, there's a cupcake vending machine where I live. I'd much rather have a cupcake than a burger.

Until 100 years ago, the most common job held in America was "subsistence farmer". There was a fraction of the people living on the land versus today, and they did all they could do to keep from starving to death. That's not ever going to be the case again, so a social safety net is required. Otherwise, those without will take, by force, what they need and want from those who have it. So the choice of those who have will be to either give back to the government in the form of increased taxation, or to give to those who don't have by threat of violence.

None of us have ever existed in such a world, and none of us are prepared to exist in that world.

Absolutely. There would be less jobs for everyone, everywhere. A new social and economic order will be required to prevent mass chaos.

McDonalds have self order kiosks already, kind of like advertising boards in the middle of the floor, you place and pay for your order and wait until you are called. it is no hassle,

And we'll need to go another step down that road in the near future.
