When Schumer brought the same talking point to the Today show, Matt Lauer challenged him saying, “You didn’t find a lot of reasons to stand and cheer, but give me one thing the president said in that speech last night, Senator, where you found yourself saying ‘Yes! I can join him and get behind him on that issue.'”
Schumer shook his head as the question was being asked. He replied, “Well, Matt, here’s the problem. He’s given a whole lot of speeches and we’ve seen that the speeches and the reality don’t match.” He continued, “I’ll say yes when he comes up with something that really helps working people and says I want to work with Democrats…”

“So in an hour, you didn’t hear one thing that you can stand behind this morning?” Lauer interjected.
“I was touched by the mention of the widow of the brave soldier who died in Yemen and things like that, but no,” Schumer replied.

This is just mystifying to me. It's almost like the Democrats WANT to keep losing. Oh well, fine with me.

I agree with Schumer, what the Orange one says and does are 2 different things. He has yet to even come close to try and cross the aisle. He has literally given the middle finger to Democrats since being elected. It may have been a good speech, but actions speak louder than words.

I don't want President Trump to "cross the aisle". Let the Democrats cross over. WE WON. Remember?

I know you're well-intentioned, but that attitude will keep your side out of power until YOU change.

Schumer represents DEMOCRATS .... he has a completely different view than Trump, Bannon Ryan..

Schumer was not going to praise rhetoric , why would he. Republicans blocked Obama from his plan to rebuild infrastructure. Donald offered no real compromise and considering he is a minority POTUS. The majority of the public do NOT support Trump's stance on border control, they reject his Muslim ban etc. instead Trump announced VOICE a plan to further marginalize and to more clearly define an internal enemy for Trump to beat on. despots need someone to blame, and trump will need lots of people to blame as he has no plan that will really help those who voted for him. Well the under 150k crowd.

Schumer was right, he wants actions not words.

Chuck is in no position to make demands. Take a seat in the back.

Barack was given almost a trillion dollars for "shovel ready" jobs. He blew it all at the track.

His speech was "delivered" well ...considering that the Donald isn't exactly a dynamic speaker. But unless some of his platitudes are made into reality, by Congress, they're just empty speech. I'll only be impressed if his healthcare promises come to pass. It has to be cheaper, have better medical coverage, lower deductables and cover more people than the ACA does. Until then, I'm with Schumer!
