Uh, Russia isn't Communist anymore, and hasn't been for 26 years.

Doestoevsky, Chekhov, Pushkin, Gogol, Pasternak, and Tolstoy are not culturally Western?

The paintings and sculptures on display in museums in Russia are not culturally Western?

Russian classical musicians -- among the world's best -- are not culturally Western?

Russian ballet is not culturally Western?

If you want to see how westernised, liberal and tolerant the Russians are then look at their views on homosexuals which Russia must cleanse itself of according to Putin or demoestic violence or indeed human rights full stop.
Thanks for "correcting" my mistaken belief that the United States was Western before it accepted homosexuality.

Now I know that it "wasn't."

Russia has never been western in the true sense of the word, at best it is currently an extremely corrupt state run by a organised elite who have asset stripped the country and diverted funds in to their own pockets
Sounds like our politicians.

indeed it was murdered Alexander Litvinenko who first coined the phrase Mafia state.
Well, Putin still has work to do to catch up with all the "mysterious deaths" of those who have gone up against Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Exactly.

Just listen to John McCain and Lindsey Graham.
It sure seems like a large portion of Romney voters felt the same as he did towards Russia 4 years ago have now changed their tune to align Trump's ideas.

Do any conservatives who back Trump wanting to be friends with Russia truly believe Putin likes America?!?!

Vladamir Putin HATES America, and he knows that Trump is the worst thing for our country. That is why he had Russian intelligence hack the DNC (both democrats and republicans agree that Russia hacked) to make Hillary look as bad as possible so Trump could win.

And it's working so far. Foreign leaders in Europe are shaking their heads at the United States. our neighbors above and below, Canada and Mexico, are both annoyed with Trump. Read the threads here in the City-Data political section, America is so divided.

Putin's plan is working and it's only been 40 days.

You might try sprinkling in some facts with your opinion.

They also tried to hack the RNC, but their servers were actually protected. The DNC's lax security is what has given people the incorrect assumption that it was an attack solely intended to disrupt the Democrats. The media and the left like to run with this narrative as it distracts away from the scandalous revelations that the leaks produced.

If that's what you'd like to believe.

Putin was very outspoken with his support for Trump. you really think Russia couldn't have hacked and leaked the RNC if it wanted to?

Putin wanted/wants what is worst for America, and that is Donald Trump.

Exactly.

John Podesta got phished.

He was asked for his password and gave it away.

I think it was "123456" or something really "secure" like that.

Of course, we know how "careful" Hillary was with her classified emails....
