That would be Republicans worst nightmare as proportionality would then give California more than 100 electoral votes, and shift the House in favor of Democrats and by more than you know since as much as you hate California, it doesnt even draw its districts politically.

Illegals, although not allowed to vote, are already included in the estimate of the general population when the number of electoral votes are dished out. On the other hand, if all illegals left CA, they would lose electoral votes they are already given and lose a few members of Congress. That would be the Democrats worst nightmare. That's another reason CA fights tooth and nail to keep every illegal in the state.

Los Angeles is a company town and a Latino town. That's its future. The changing demographics will continue to push out other white professionals, because the lower quality of life will not be worth it when the overcrowding / traffic and smog are also taken into account. Good weather can be had elsewhere.

Before long, the town will be mostly Film industry professionals, a smattering of middle upper class and upper class who have inherited money, Latinos, and a lesser number of Asians. If everyone is okay with that, then they are. And so goes L.A.

One of L.A.'s continued draws for the wealthy is not that it is such a great place to live, but rather that there are few better options in the U.S. for weather snobs. It's more like its the best option, rather than a good option.

Chicago's economy is the sole reason for its existence. It doesn't have good weather, nor much nature access. As long as the economy holds, then middle American kids will continue to relocate to it as their Middle America NYC. If the economy doesn't hold, then Chicago will continue to decline. In fact, any population decline or increase is likely a direct reflection on the economic state of the city. Whereas, in LA, you have people who are there purely for the weather and the resultant lifestyle.

That's my take on it, anyway.

I agree except this is already how Los Angeles is currently, it's not just it's future, it's right now. You drive through much of Los Angels and Los Angeles county, it already looks like a third world country. The middle class is mostly gone including many African Americans, not just Whites. There are pockets of the well to do, along the coast and a few other parts of the city that cling on in their bubbles.

I guess the new economic tonic according to Los Angeles and Chicago is to have native-born Americans moving out in droves and lots and lots of international immigration and births.

I have no opinion, but it seems like that is magic formula that Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City want these days.

New York City metro had a domestic outmigration of just 199,000 people in one year, it only gained because of international migration and child births.

Looks like based on the numbers Americans are rushing out of Los Angeles with all that equity and swarming into Las Vegas and Phoenix with the extremely low taxes, freedom and libertarian and conservative mentality.

And that would be fine but they "colonize" those States and turn them into the Hell Holes they fled. Nevada is getting Bluerer and Bluerer from all the refugees from California. Can't they see that Will just ruin the things they love about Nevada?

The only things they love about Nevada are cheaper housing and loose gun laws.

And we seem to be getting a lot more of LA's underclass than middle class.

That sucks! Nevada is such an awesome state. Too bad it has such a small population. Since that means the Liberals from California can over run it before Nevada has a chance to assimilate them.

The death and fertility rates in Cook County are tight. The aging of the population = lower fertility rates.

Inbound immigration, legal and illegal has declined.

Suburban office parks are becoming dinosaurs because businesses are relocating to Chicago to attract younger workers who do not embrace suburban life or commutes. The office spaces are a fraction of what they once were because more people are working remotely.

Despite the declining population, there is substantial gentrification and rents and real estate values in Chicago continue to escalate in middle and affluent economic neighborhoods.
thank you cliff clavin.
