I'll have to find the video, it's floating around on Youtube. Really funny (but serious) stuff.
It shows a lot of outspoken republican/conservative politicians speaking publicly against homosexuality. Then, when somebody in their own family comes out, they quickly change their tune and are suddenly "open-minded."
Can you confirm that the media makes them out to be 20-50% of the population (that's an enormous guess by the way; that range is 30% difference)?
I would say they are represented on TV and in films today at a much higher percentage than 2-5%. Almost like there has to be a token gay person in a supporting role on just about everything. Not saying that is bad or good just the way it is.
Yeah no. The transgender people didn't rock the boat. Right wing bigots made a stink about something that wasn't an issue in an effort to stir up their base of angry bigots who fear the unknown. Reasonable people just reacted accordingly and the governor lost his job.
Minority groups would get less outsized attention if right wing bigots simply stopped obsessing over them and desperately trying to discriminate against them.
Not totally true.Trans folks are out there trying to get the right to get into the locker rooms of their opposite bio sex. Thats pretty much rocking the boat.
Bathrooms, no problem. Im even for going all unisex with all stalls to solve that issue. Males in female dressing rooms because they "feel" female? There lies a problem, and one created by the trans folks themselves.
When I say "T/G": I ain't referring to those people who've got screwed up sex organs and or sex hormone problems and, a "sex" needs to be picked to make life easier for their kind. I'm talking about "regular" looking dudes and ladies who wanna switch sexes like Buck Angel and Catlyn Jenner.
Nothing besides heterosexuality is common. But I just dont see the trans as being in the same category as homosexuality, and I think they probably get too much support by being lumped in as if it all is the same sort of issue.
