The support for legalization is actually pretty bipartisan, according to this CD poll:

no he will not. And what is more you know it, but wish it were not so.

surely you understand that we need more things to keep people occupied other than ceaseless wars. and religion is no longer cutting it.

your limited dataset and prejudice opinion falls away to nothing in the face of millions of happy successful users for hundreds of years.

SO far it is the safest recreational drug we know of, well at least ones that people like...

True, for mostly blue-collar jobs.

Self-employed people, including professionals, are not subjected to drug tests. That's a big motivation to be self-employed for many folks. Neither are the vast majority of office workers.

You seem to think that most users are in the lower echelons of society. That's a very poor assumption on your part.

There's some evidence of this in Colorado. I don't believe it's such a huge problem that the legal states are considering recriminalization. And of course as more states get on the bandwagon, this effect will disappear.

Fine. So poor people are (again) taking it in the shorts. But frankly, it's not poor people who are the driving force here.

Where on earth do you get that idea????? States have always had their own laws and enforcement regarding marijuana use. In fact, some states are tougher on marijuana users than the feds are.

The feds can either come to an enforcement understanding with states that have legalized marijuana, as the Obama administration did (Eric Holder Says DOJ Will Let Washington, Colorado Marijuana Laws Go Into Effect | The Huffington Post), or they can choose to act in the face of state laws.

As of this past general election, 29 states have now legalized marijuana in some fashion. State Marijuana Laws in 2017 Map You will note they are not all liberal states.

I don't know what the Trump administration will do. I hope they will continue to live by the Holder agreement, and I deeply wish that they would announce this. If they decide to override the states on this, I truly don't think that it will be a political/public win for them.

The Christian Right seems to be against anything that gives people any pleasure. If it's fun and enjoyable, it's a sin and should be illegal. I am flat out sick of it.

For many people, it is a crappy life choice; others manage to do well in spite of it.
Why does anyone think people should be put in a cage for it?

I say he doesn't legalize it. He doesn't drink. He told his kids no drink, no drugs when they were younger. He lost a brother to alcoholism.

I live in an apartment complex. I don't want to smell it anymore than I want to smell cigarettes. If you want to eat it, I'm okay with that because it doesn't impact me.

IMHO it will be legal nationwide within the next 10 years.

I thought the same thing, when I read the title about "Trump on Marijuana?". I figured it might explain a few things about his scattered behavior.

I predict that in 5 years, it will be totally illegal again, across the country, because of the huge upsurge in related crime it will bring and the number of deaths caused by pothead drivers.

You know, I have been thinking the same thing lately. Also, this administration seems to be causing more trouble than they are worth; I am really sick of the whole mess. Going backwards a hundred years or so is not my idea of a good time.
