Saying he had nobody to report to is not simply wrong, it is a devious attempt to excuse a crime.
So who would you recommend he report it to specifically, and more importantly what do they do with that information. We do not know at this point, he very well may have reported it to one of the 2 committees in private. Only congress has the authority to remove the president, not much in the way of precedent when it comes to criminal acts.

Even assuming that his words amounted to a criminal act, the president is a very different circumstance. He is held to a very low standard for everything, conflict of interest, disclosure of classified information and supposed crimes.

As soon as possible is not waiting until you are fired.

Nice try at the spin, reminds me of the ignorant defense arguments of Hillary.
Asking him to stop investigating Flynn, in and of itself (in a vacuum) was not a crime.

Attempting to force him to quit was.

Which is why he was keeping records.

It's weird how you're totally ignoring that a sitting president was trying to strongarm the Director of the FBI into dropping a case, but you're all over that same Director for not immediately reporting this and having.... what? Trump dragged out in handcuffs?

Given this administration's propensity for firing people they disagree with and ditching people that Trump views as "not loyal" (aka "ass kissers"), I can see why he held out.

And, I really don't even LIKE Comey, but he's not wrong here.

Now, why didn't Comey report that crime? Why would he wait until after he lost his job to report it?

You know that if he testifies that Trump committed this crime, Comey will be asked why he didn't immediately take it to the DOJ. Since the accusation, the POTUS forcing the FBI to stop a criminal investigation of a high ranking official, is extremely serious, what could be the justification for inaction?

The only testimony Comey could make without making it look like he agreed to not pursue Flynn is that Trump did not pressure him; otherwise, it would appear as though he made a deal and backed out only after he was fired.
Actually, Comey went on record stating (and Trump corroborated this) that he told Trump he wasn't going to stop investigating.

So, I don't think Comey has much to worry about here. Trump does, though.

1. trump didn't force it...otherwise the case would have been dropped back in feb

let's put this in perspective

april 2016 Obama asks the FBI and AG not to prosecute Hillary... July 2016 FBI drops the case, says no intent..... no-one NO-ONE pushes for impeachment

Feb 2017 Trump asks the FBI not to prosecute Flynn, may 2017 a memo is leaked... the entire left and some of the right, is ready to impeach Trump

sorry, but this is not passing the fairness test

He will have two choices when testifying about the memo. He can either say Trump was saying to Comey that he was hoping there was nothing to it and that it would be dropped or that Trump wanted Comey to essentially commit a crime and Comey agreed. Which do you think he will go with?
Hate to burst your bubble but your carefully rewording of what trump said is not even close, he said nothing about hoping there was nothing to it and would be dropped, he specifically asked several times Comey to drop the investigation, supposedly because he was a Good Guy. Nice try though.

He did not attempt actively conceal it.

keywords:

asked

not demanded

and it is no different from what President Obama did when he asked Comey to drop the case against Hillary

You can try to rationalize it that way if you choose, but it will come down to either Trump committing a crime and Comey ignoring it or Trump not committing that crime.

Or maybe there are certain protocols that we simply aren't privy to? We do not know all of the sensitive information the FBI knows. Do you think it would be prudent to document something that may or may not be a crime and wait until the investigation is complete before presenting all of the evidence, or would you charge in with just a small piece of the puzzle and try to build a case? You can rationalize it any way you like as well P.M. If you look at the grand scheme of the investigation you would realize that this is just one tiny piece of the puzzle. Each piece of the puzzle has it's time and place to be placed in the whole picture. A case as complicated as this could take years to build. We all want answers now, but that just isn't realistic.

Please.

He has a chain of command. And he is the top law enforcement agent in the country. In most cases, such incidents get reported to him for further investigation. You are the one being devious.

Trump committed no crime, this is fun to watch, sure are going to be a lot of disappointed liberals, but they should be use to disappointment by now.
