Need to realize that the young generation of wealthy are not like the bygone ones like the Carnegies and Rockefellers. They run more liberal and are very much in touch with technology and what it means for people in the future.

the 1% are a lot more practical than many of their idealogical defenders appreciate

the 1% know that the rank inequality which exists today will eventually result in outright revolt , paying people off with this kind of idea is far cheaper for them

zuckerberg is espousing this because its good for him

Not all of them agree, but certainly a growing number. Read the plutocracy papers, a study by one of the banks. The power of the vote greatly concerns them.

the middle class is what counts in every country , once the middle class realise how much the top 1% are taking of the pie , that spells trouble for the elites , you have to keep the middle content enough not to revolt ( either that or go the saudi arabia route ) , the middle have been shrinking now for quite some time or at least are less well off relatively speaking

the 1% are very pragmatic , this idea would not be floating around were they not on board , zuckerbergs speech proves they are , zuckerberg also has a positive image , he is liked by the left so who better to champion such a move

It is entirely possible that with a certain level of automation running a trucking company will only involve people at computers as the jobs of driving and loading and unloading will be automated. The job of truck driver will go the way of fireman in a train engine.

Or said a different way 95% of people are working which IMO is about as good as can be expected. Guaranteed income may sound like a good idea in a civilized society however i'm wondering whats going to motivate people to work if they can make a decent living by not working.

The idea that taking money from producers and giving it away will increase innovation is beyond ludicrous.

the purpose will be to provide an income so they dont revolt and burn down zuckerbergs compound ! , such radical technological change will make so many people unemployed , a radical solution is required , very rich ( and smart ) people know this
