Comey himself stated that an FBI director can be fired with no reason or cause given by a sitting president.

The stock market doesn't seem to mind Comey's testimony.

I have not been able to listen to the full hearing, but my two takeaways were:

(1) The Russians meddled in the 2016 Presidential election and Congress/Senate have been provided classified documents as evidence. Comey explicitly confirmed this was not "fake news."

(2) Comey interpreted Trump's comments (re: loyalty, hoping he would stay on in his role at the FBI, Flynn being and good guy and hoping the investigation against him would go away) as the President asking him to end the investigation.

Risch: He said, “I hope.”

Comey: Those are exact words, correct.

Risch: You don’t know of anyone that’s been charged for hoping something?

Comey: I don’t, as I sit here.

Risch: Thank you, Mr. Chairman.

WRONG. The FBI Director must be reappointed after 10 years. This was done in 1973 after JEH had served for over 40 years and people felt he used the power of the FBI to keep anyone from removing him from office. At that time, the FBI Director served until he was removed. It meant someone had to step forward to remove him.

I hope that clears this up for you.

Comey was loyal to Hillary???? The Director of the FBI swears to be loyal to the people of the US and the constitution, they do not pledge loyalty to a President, ever..period. They are appointed by the President but are expected to do their job independently and they do not swear a pledge of fealty to POTUS or any other Government Official.
