Seems he deleted his tweet immediately.

Also, his brother died in Afghanistan two years ago. So maybe he already has his patriotism cred.

I didn't question his patriotism -- as his protest is most likely an anti Trump message more than anything else. He doesn't like Trump, and he seems willing to take a massive pay cut to get that message out.
