Trump thought he was being crowned king. That he could order Congress to do his bidding and they would have no choice but to obey. I don't say this in jest, I truly believe he thought that. It's obvious he has absolutely no idea how government works. By the time he learned otherwise he had already alienated the majority of his own party. He's truly that stupid.

McConnell is a swamp creature, but the fact that Trump screamed at him because the Congressional Republicans did not protect him from the Russia investigation is kind of hilarious.

Trump is so obsessed--he can't get past the investigation that his cult keeps saying is fiction. Maybe they should tell their glorious leader he's worrying about nothing.

"...During the call, which Mr. Trump initiated on Aug. 9 from his New Jersey golf club, the president accused Mr. McConnell of bungling the health care issue. He was even more animated about what he intimated was the Senate leader’s refusal to protect him from investigations of Russian interference in the 2016 election, according to Republicans briefed on the conversation..."

Actually it is not that many, and "clarity" is not exactly the term I would apply there.

Trump Better care, because if push comes to shove trump will need him on his side if impeachment proceedings were instigated by the House, but hey, keep telling yourself that everyone else is crazy, see how that works out for ya.

Addison McConnell, who goes by the folksy name "Mitch," is a throwback to an era when southern senators were elected year after year so they could achieve committee seniority for the purpose of thwarting civil rights legislation.

That era is over for the most part. McConnell's leadership purpose is to shill for the tobacco, health insurance (Humana is headquartered in Kentucky) and coal mining industries.

They will stay at odds until the run up to the 2018 elections. If Trump is successful at getting his base to vote out republicans who won't do what he wants in favor of some who promise to toe the line, Mitch will cave. If the people largely ignore Trump's endorsements, Trump might cave in an effort to get something done before full blown lame duck-news sets in. We'll see where this goes.

Trump kinda has a point. After 7+ years of campaign promising their constituents they will repeal and replace O'Care, they can't get it done when the gates are wide open? I don't think that's really Trump's fault. Some members of Congress that were interviewed said Trump was very engaged, working with everyone. The Republicans couldn't deliver on their years of campaign promises.

Would love to see more independents get into Congress and boot out those do-nothing long-termers.

And in part you are correct, but then again there is that Nagging issue that trump also said we would get something that we would all Love, yet he does not seem to have presented anything that would provide that. So, yes the GOP screwed up for not actually having a workable replacement, but then that hammer also falls on trump. Is what it is.
