U.S. colonialism is equally at fault, slick. But based on your post history, I'd expect you don't know much on the subject.
Actually I do but doesn't matter now does it. It's up to those idiots there to decide about that. Or they can go it alone but they won't. Too addicted to the "free" US dollar.
General Honore' blasts Trump as well, so it's not just the Mayor. Trump did not have the troops he could've sent in place to help and we know full well why PR is not getting the help it deserves.
Many troops are in FL , and the state was devastated by Irma. They still are working to get electric. The wells run on electric, Many people couldn't shower in 90+heat and humidity, sleeping in their cars. The help is thinning out with so many destructive hurricanes. PR took a major hit and it is an Island. It is not as though major amounts of regular Americans or Christians can go there to help out. Flying is very limited.
Trumpers are so embarrassed by their cult hero's behavior that they are all over this thread in deflection mode. There is no defense of this idiot. He is a waste. It has now been ten days since the hurricane devastated Puerto Rico. He is too busy playing golf to offer at least verbal support and encouragement but instead he paints a rosy picture of imagined progress and attacks the mayor or anyone who points out that he is full of crap. The sooner we rid ourselves of this guy the better.
Late next week Pence, Trump's chimp, will pay a visit to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Pence: "I’m proud to say our administration has delivered over 4.5 million meals, 4.6 liters of water and many millions more are on the way...” There's 3.4 million people on Puerto Rico so somebody ate twice...losers, lazy freeloaders. I'll bet those 4.6 liters of water went far.
What is despicable is a fat ignorant president playing golf at his richy rich hideaway and wolfing down steak and ice cream, while the Mayor of San Juan and her residents, are living a perilous and hellish existence. And to make matters worse he criticizes her to score political points with his dwindling and low info base!
Thanks BruSan. I was aware of the rigid containers that could be buried. Everybody in Houston needs one of these to retain water for slow release into the creeks. How long can fuel be stored in one of these?
IMO, local and state governments have grown used to FEMA.
Every place on earth has some sort weather or geological risk.
If I choose to live in such a place, it is my duty as a citizens and a human to prepare for the worst.
Less than10% of Houston had water problems with Harvey. Some lost power for a few days. There were some highways that could not be used in specific areas, but no place was totally cut off from civilization. What happened in Houston was anticipated by many. And people from all over came to help the folks who flooded. I'm not seeing that in P R.
The time is past when the military should have taken over the island.

FEMA works best when there is a local government structure in place to receive assistance.
What is a leader in P.R. with no followers to do ? Blame someone else.
I've heard a couple of interviews with her.
People in medical facilities have died when the generators ran out of fuel. People in outlying communities are drinking out of creeks.
It has been reported that people are wandering around in an air conditioned room in San Juan, exchanging business cards instead of going out in the field. They sent word out to all of the mayors to go to San Juan, to their air conditioned fiefdom if they wanted assistance. One of the mayors took part of their fuel for generators, in his town, & went. They gave him some water & food, but not enough for everyone in his town. He was boiling mad & said plenty about it. No backlash from the great pumpkin, though. He saved that for a woman.
American Airlines was ferrying donated supplies from NC companies for a week before starting, yesterday, to bring passengers back. Part of those supplies included those filters that will make water potable. The mayor who wasn't given enough water & food for his whole village has people drinking out of a creek. What's wrong with that picture?
The mayor of San Juan has been approached by other mayors asking if she has any extra food or water.
Why would she not be fed up? Got a good reason? I'm going to assume that you're OK with Trump going on the attack because she's a woman. He did not attack the male mayor who publicly complained.
All Trump is saying is that the Puerto Rican government (which is notoriously inept) needs to stop complaining and actually do something. They aren't helping out at all. Disaster relief is supposed to be a collaborative effort.
