Its not even close! The US has EIGHTEEN times the murder rate and an INCREDIBLE 699 times more death by gun SIX HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE times! That's a mind blowing shameful 699 times - the difference is phenominal! And yet we are supposed to believe guns save lives loool! 699! Bloody unbelievable!
Your government is lying to you:
UK — Homicides in England and Wales are not counted the same as in other countries. Their homicide numbers “exclude any cases which do not result in conviction, or where the person is not prosecuted on grounds of self-defence or otherwise”

https://crimeresearch.org/2014/03/co...oss-countries/

You even count bludgeoned to death by the butt of a firearm as a gun homicide.

UK has a history of rigging the numbers. It should not even be called UK numbers because you count the population of the UK but only report homicides in England and Wales.

You do know you sound like a ranting, raving lunatic, right? I doubt you are a refection of the population in the UK, but I am starting to wonder. As others have said, your government does not release correct information, and you aren't being honest either.

I have never seen any evidence that gun ownership has declined. To the contrary. Gun shops are talking about the enormous number of women who are buying their first gun. We have permitless carry here, but the CCW classes are full of women first-time gun owners who are taking the classes for the training.

I know a man who just spent two years in London working for 3M. He said the streets are totally dominated by gangs. Robberies are a constant threat. He said he would rather walk around Harlem at night than London. Stabbings are rampant. Law-abiding people can legally carry nothing for self-defense. No mace, no pepper spray, no knife, no gun, nothing. They are sitting ducks.

pretty soon you will not be able to own a butter knife in the UK. they will say that it is for the safety of the children that people give up their butter knives.

Can't own a knife now unless you are 18.

My dad was stationed in the UK during WW2 to help fight against the nazis and the dictatorship there. maybe nothing should have been done to help the UK, because a dictatorship is what they are heading for.
pretty soon you will be going to prison for what you think. as i understand, people are already going to jail for NPC speech.

You have commented more than once about the correlation between crime and gun ownership, and you accused me of not answering because of some nonsense, but I just get tired of going around in these circles...

If you have a REAL good look at these statistics and the generally agreed upon causation, with all due respect to your desires, crime of all variety tends to go up and down as a result of other more significant factors like economic good or bad times, drug use, gang activity, etc. Also of course, there is the rate of crime increase and/or decrease and then there is the absolute number of crimes that we can't be altogether too satisfied about either way in this country, whether trending up or down. We need to do better, and many think we can/should.

Thinking to maybe give this thread a rest for awhile, because it's just like all the others with most of the same characters repeating the same arguments ad nauseam, and the same result. We all know what that same result always is. Again begging the question, why bother?

Is it really Americas unique gun violence, or is it really dense, liberal, urban unique gun violence? In 2014 54% of the US had zero murders while 2% of US counties had 51% of all murders.

https://crimeresearch.org/2017/04/nu...s-69-1-murder/

Quote:
The worst 1% of counties have 19% of the population and 37% of the murders. The worst 5% of counties contain 47% of the population and account for 68% of murders. As shown in figure 2, over half of murders occurred in only 2% of counties.
