(Full disclosure, I totally lifted this from a late-night comedian but don't remember which one.)
I agree that Trump would prefer that zero benefits (re anything really) accrue to Obama, but the Trumps would gain so much more than the Obamas under the abolition of the Estate Tax that Trump might not care if Obama benefitted from the same policy.

Lightbulb The biggest problem with the “stick it to the libs” mentality

Right wing authoritarians like Trumplings need two things:

1) a clear enemy
2) simple slogans

When their perceived "authorities" like hate radio, Fox News, political extremists give then directives, they hop right in step and get in line. They're extremely compliant followers.

Since the fall of the Soviet Union, they've been directed to hate their fellow Americans, which they certainly do. Anyone who isn't one of them is their clear enemy. Hate radio feeds them their daily instructions:

"America sucks and it's all your neighbors' fault. Hate them."

Simple slogans?

MAGA
DTS

-Some background-

Right-wing authoritarians are people who have a high degree of willingness to submit to authorities they perceive as established and legitimate, who adhere to societal conventions and norms, and who are hostile and punitive in their attitudes towards people who don't adhere to them. They value uniformity and are in favour of using group authority, including coercion, to achieve it.
Right-wing authoritarians want society and social interactions structured in ways that increase uniformity and minimize diversity. In order to achieve that, they tend to be in favour of social control, coercion, and the use of group authority to place constraints on the behaviours of people such as political dissidents and ethnic minorities. These constraints might include restrictions on immigration, limits on free speech and association and laws regulating moral behaviour. It is the willingness to support or take action that leads to increased social uniformity that makes right-wing authoritarianism more than just a personal distaste for difference. Right-wing authoritarianism is characterized by obedience to authority, moral absolutism, racial and ethnic prejudice, and intolerance and punitiveness towards dissidents and deviants.

Just read the regurgitated talking points the usual suspects post in this forum on a regular basis. Angry, irrational, frightened screeds.

Very predictable.

I don't think I have seen this from liberals either. Not what we're seeing now.

Right-wingers view the world in terms of black and white. This is why it is impossible to have a nuanced discussion with them. For example, you can't be a progressive who also considers the Clintons terrible people. No, in the minds of the far-right, you are either "a real, 'merican Republican who loves JEEESUS and guns!" or you're a "dirty liberal communist who loves Clinton, hates 'mericuh, but loves Muslims and gays!"

Fear is what drives them: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...ical-attitudes

The conservative mind is heavily dominated by fear, which not only explains why they hate everything - they are afraid of change or anything different - but also their tribal mindset. Anyone from outside the tribe is to be feared and hated, hence the constant rage against anyone who's different. It also explains their love of "religion" since it is easier to avoid feeling afraid if you have an all powerful entity on your side who - conveniently - always hates the same people you hate, or so they claim.

Finally, they are unable to understand that most people, progressives in particular, are not as tribal as they are and can see the world in terms broader than "always right" and "always wrong." That's why we see insane assumptions regularly from the far right about the beliefs of "liberals" - they literally cannot understand how anyone else can think differently from their narrow tribal mindset.

This fear-driven tribal mindset is how we end up with a party of "religious patriots" fanatically backing a filthy, immoral and totally sold-out scumbag like Trump. 2 years ago, any remotely honest right-winger wouldn't have trusted Trump with his retirement fund, his house for a weekend, or his daughter or wife for one night. But the moment he becomes the Republican candidate, the fear-driven tribal mindset kicks in, and now we see right-wingers defending everything Trump does, when 2 years ago they would have wanted nothing to do with him.

Just wow! What a bunch of whining liberal snowflakes. Get a grip. It’s not the end of the world because Trump is President. You guys will soon be back in power. It might not be for awhile, but someday.

Because the Clintons are an excuse. As long as right-wings can wring their hands and say, "Uh, well... Clinton was also a crook!" they can try to feel a bit better about voting for an even bigger crook in Trump, who's also a grossly immature bigoted slimebag who pays neither his taxes nor his employees.

Right-wingers whining about Clinton is like listening to a child caught do something very wrong trying to get out of it by ratting out his siblings on something bad they did. It doesn't justify their actions, but they'll keep harping on it because they have nothing else.
