I’m not rich, and the new tax bill will help me and most of the middle class.

You think all the people with 401ks and jobs are going to be upset?

Right, a tax bill with stingy temporary middle class cuts and generous permanent corporate and pass through tax cuts that adds trillions in debt is going to be a winner for the middle class. The GOP knows they’re screwed so they wrote a bill for their donors before voters throw them out.

What exactly do you mean, and what have you done so far?

Have you done volunteer work for a politician? Have you made sizable donations to a political cause? Have you written letters - real letters, not tweets or short emails - to your elected officials? Have you gone to city council meetings or events where your senators were speaking?

I don't know Pedro. We'll see. It's going to take years to really feel the effect of Trumponomics... corporate executives and big shareholders are definitely going to love it, but my guess is the hit to social services long term is going to be a big problem for politicians. Time will tell.

We already did that.
No we didn't. The 1% control this country. And the republican tax plan reinforces that the the rich control everything in our country. And the middle class gets basically nothing except to hope that the rich does the right thing by hiring people and not pocketing even more money.

The middle class own large chunks of those corporations in their 401Ks.

Most of the middle class are going to see tax cuts.

This probably goes way over your head, but only SPENDING causes debt.

If, like me, you don’t want more debt, call for spending cuts.

The new tax bill has an expiration date for us "regular" folks (expiration date: 2025). So, it will only "help" us for a limited time period.

When the tax cuts disappear for regular folks but the ones for corporations keep right on ticking (since they're permanent), sure, I think there might be at least some people who get upset.

That's one of my objections to the tax bill. If it's to make things better for the "middle class" then why do the benefits expire for us, while the ones for corporations don't?

Don't get me wrong. I'm as happy as the next person to line up for my tax "cut" but I'll be banking any extra I get out of it to tide me over when it expires and we move on to the next "great thing for the middle class."

Again, the "middle class" tax cuts only last until 2025. That's 8 years from now. Then what happens?

I know Mr. Jefferson wasn't perfect, but I damn sure agree with a lot of what he had to say.
