Unfortunately, too many people think Trump is admirable in this respect, but the problem is that Trump isn't just offending "delicate snowflakes" (which is another unnecessary insult that too many Americans like to throw around). Trump is simply offensive, obnoxious, childish and moronic, even to many conservatives. This is not simply an ideological divide!

Again, the reason(s) Trump supporters are proud to remain his base no matter what as compared to the reason(s) other Americans not so enamored are embarrassed (see Trump's exceptionally low approval ratings), involves a dynamic that essentially defines who we are as Americans! Beliefs and traits we have in common and/or that divide us.

You do realize the radicals on the left brought this environment about right? You cannot demand all of society, the government and economy all change so abruptly without angering and dividing any nation. The values of the radical left are so far from American they are simply offensive to freedom itself.

I have no desire for civil discourse with people who
1. Believe in socialism
2. Support homosexuality or other perverse behavior
3. do not support free speech
4. Support black lives matter
5. Pander to minorities or believe they are “oppressed”
6. Believe in political correctness
7. Support gun control
I think this little list sums op the snowflake group, and no I’m fine with democrats of old even if I don’t always agree with them. Traditional democratic causes like union issues, healthcare law and workers rights absolutely have a place in our national debate. These lowlives (snowflakes) have for now taken over the Democratic Party at the expense of freedom. Those who believe in the un American causes above are enemies of the country and should be treated as such. If Trump wants to provoke and attack them I’m fine with that. These people really are dangerous, thier demands for radical change and the attempt to carry some of the agenda out under Obama is the very reason Trumps confrontational methods got him elected. The people wanted a president who could stop and even humiliate these leftist. Personally I believe the divide in this nation is very serious. The hatred, violence and protests point to the possibility of civil war. When radicals gain power that is usually what happens. In 2020 the far left is likely to win everything, the millenial generation will exert its full force upon our society as they will all have come of age by this cycle. Will red state America live with it or raise the flag of rebellion? Hard to picture the conservative state acceptance of socialism and social liberalism being forced by law upon them peacefully. There are limits of strain the union can handle and we are getting very near them. I make no apologies for my contribution to this division as the far left is an abomination upon democracy as far as I am concerned and it needs to be stomped out. If civil war is our future then so be it, after all its often stated that freedom is not free.

I am deeply ashamed of today's America- no sane person can be proud of it in its present state. I am not ashamed of being an American, though, because a decisive majority of Americans did not vote for this ignoramus and the despicable characters that surround him. We fell victim to an archaic and undemocratic system of elections and that is the one reason I am not disgusted with my American citizenship. I take comfort in knowing that Most of my fellow citizens are better than this.

I think there is still hope for this country but it will not shine until the dark underbelly, known as "Trump's base", is denounced on every street and in every corner, denounced loudly and clearly. Every child in every school must be taught how this ignorant and hateful movement came about and what the fallacies in its thinking are. That must be taught like we teach basic English or Math. I know it will happen and that knowledge keeps me inspired. Germany did it, Italy did it, Spain did it and so shall we.

Let all of us who still remember the words "decency", "humanity" and "knowledge" do everything within our ability to peacefully un-elect all members of Trump's party and place it in the trash bin of history where it duly belongs! If we don't do it, then who will?
Only 40% of Americans feel that this country is headed in the right direction under Trump. We are the majority who feel as you do. Trump is a fool and an unabashed racist.

Democrats slander Trump as racist for saying these people come from sh*thole countries. It’s no different than Democrats who flee TO red states to escape Democrat taxes in their sh*thole states and sh*thole cities embracing illegals giving them sanctuary from the law.

Actually, there is a term for that belief--hubris. You do not know more than most. We've all been following it for decades--does not make anyone "know more" than others. It does make it more difficult for you to be objective though.

Not caused by, but definitely exacerbated by. Trump (who definitely has an Agenda) has taken advantage of those divisions to attempt to elevate and insert himself and divide people even more, but he's picked a side of the division (for now--it changes when convenient).

I don't approve of Trumps mouth...however, the man tells it like it is, and our economy is starting to grow...there are companies out there going to give their employees bonuses due to Trumps tax reform.
But the presidents are all being judged by the same polls using the same methodology, so they are relatively the same, and these polls show Trump to have gone straight downhill in popularity his first year. In comparison to the others--he is failing miserably.

No, Trump DOES NOT tell it like it is. He tells it the way that will work best for his own agenda. He is hugely dishonest. There is nobody who tells it less 'like it is' than the liar Trump.

So you are not from NY? Because for many many years, Trump has been an hugely unpopular, discredited and disrespected voice, heard mostly on Page Six. They like him in the rural areas of the south and midwest though--because they actually do not really know him.

It would be very wise for the people of this country to stop feeding off of the negative....stop grasping at straws and open up to what Trump is actually doing for this nation. When in the history of this nation has our stock exchange climbed for a total year? That is proof in itself, regardless of what liberal news stations want you to hear....and believe....

Every candidate who ever ran for President made promises to their voters which they did not keep once they got in....except for Trump....he is doing what he said he was going to do....and that makes him popular.
He is NOT popular. You are kidding yourself.

The stock exchange climbed during Obama's term.

Actually, he is a racist. Anyone who has known who he is 'for decades' knows this.

Please stop with the Stalinesque dictator technique of blaming the media, who are just reporting things you and Trump do not want to hear--like the truth. As far as your family member getting killed? I bet the odds of your relatives getting killed by an illegal alien are dwarfed by the chances of your relatives getting killed by a legal American.

I didn't quote your entire post, though I agree with you word for word.

I have always maintained that I do not have to like a candidate in order to vote for him or her...I only have to believe they can get the job done, or at the very least not make our country worse. Sad that it has come to that, but easily 80% of politicians on every level from local to national are, imo, in office for anything BUT altruistic reasons.

I almost always vote for what I believe to be the lesser of two evils. Not ideal, but then politics has never been ideal.

I'm not ashamed of America. Often disappointed....but not ashamed. That's why I vote.

So is mine, but the country is going in the other direction. Infrastructure crumbling, the wealthiest Americans getting richer, wages stagnant, while the tax burden shifts to middle class Americans. You see, I care about other people, just not myself, and I also care about my country.

What really has driven the Dow over 25,000 was all these corporations knew in advance they were going to reap an economic windfall, and their confidence was thru the roof, as they knew their tax rate would be slashed from 37% to 21%, and they were about to be millions of dollars richer (for those Fortune 500 companies, billions richer) So of course my 401K has skyrocketed, but the end result is nothing that is good for America, because it will be the the middle class who subsidize these billionaires, who are sitting back laughing at these gullible fools while counting their money.

And, the deficit climbs as these barons loot the Treasury, and the Fed will just have to print up some more greenbacks to pay the interest on the debt.

The nation did not vote for him. He was elected by an archaic and useless indirect election. Most people voted for Hillary. Get rid of the electoral college!!!
